I've looked over Myrron's guide and I was wondering if there was any update to this.. is there any other options out there or is this still about the best route to go? The grehopper boot to 95 looks good, is there any other combine that could skip a couple of steps or not? I'm trying to avoid a ton of subcombines .. (I'm sitting at 66 tailor and already dreading having to make 8 million heady kiola's for the wu's stuff)

    thanks,

    Daz

There is a forum here titled Tradeskill Guides, you can browse through that for alternate selections. Better get used to the idea of subcombines though, just wait till you get to those silly studs

At least you started tailoring after they introduced the new Tradeskill UI. My wrist still hurts from having to repeatedly open bags, unstack, move, deposit, combine a million times. It could be a LOT worse for you. Good luck .

Personally, I don't plan to use any of the Wu's items for skill-ups, since they require an item that I have to depend on others to make for me- a Vial of Viscous Mana.

As a result, I've loosely planned my skill-ups as follows:

          Trivial to 115

          Tailored Quiver
Tailoring Components: high quality cat pelt, quiver pattern

          Trivial to 135

Owlbear Hide Tunic (I collect many, many pelts while farming for smithing)
Tailoring Components: acrylia thimble and needle set, owlbear pelt(2), shade silk thread(2), tunic pattern

Ø acrylia thimble and needle set= Shar Vahl, Broker Fahaar
Ø tunic pattern= Abysmal Sea, Tonlyei Lyhin, Garald Samer

          Trivial to 150

Treated Silk Fibers (Blessed Fishing Rod)
Tailoring Components: dragon egg oil, silk cord

Ø dragon egg oil= dragon egg (western wastes forage) + water flask
          Ø silk cord= Silk Thread x3

          Trivial to 167

          Golden Teal Ribbon
Tailoring Components: elm handled shears, gold ribbon, jaggedpine dye

Ø elm handled shears= elm bow staff, metal bits, shears mold, water flask
Ø gold ribbon= Gunthak Lighthouse, Kwyllon Geerlok
Ø jaggedpine dye= plant shoot, water flask

          Trivial to 187

          Platinum Teal Ribbon
Tailoring components: elm handled shears, jaggedpine dye, platinum ribbon

          <<Phase Spider Thread to 222, whenever possible>>

          Trivial to 242

          Acrylia Reinforced Gorget
Tailoring Components: acrylia boning, flawless rockhopper hide, gorget pattern, paeala bark tannin

Ø acrylia boning= file, small brick of acrylia ore, water flask
Ø paeala bark tannin= paeala bark, water flask (PoK- Sirekoth Eshe, East Building)

Note that 135-187 is really only a viable alternative for a forager, unless you don't mind buying all the dragon oils and dye forages.

The huge number of dragon eggs you would need for this route is probably not worth your time. On my server, dragon eggs would sell for 100pp each, whereas vials of mana were something like 12pp (been a while). Considering that dragon eggs are rare forages to begin with, I'd reconsider Wu's.

That said, up until 250, the guide is pretty much up to date, since there were very few new items introduced in recent expansions with low trivials. Well, it's possible that some items may have new trivials after today which could affect things, but before today, the guide should still be pretty accurate. Where it becomes outdated is probably in the 200+ area.

              Suggestions

Since you're only at 66 you have alot of options.

You can farm the spit out of Luclin rockhoppers and collect pelts of various grades or kill Norath lions for cats pelts, or kill crystal spiders and get a heck of alot of silks. Then you can a. make studded armors, b. quivers, or c. Crystal silk armor. If all honesty the quivers is the easiests can people are always looking for low quality skins (degrade extra med quality) for leather padding for smithing (read as something to make money on).

The reason I suggest start early farming rockhopper is because you'll need a heck of alot of superior and flawless grade skins which can take you to
240'ish tailoring. Then probably look at velious items to get to 250ish.

This is assuming you don't go the wu's route. I did wu's because there was no other choices.

But the big factor that you need to consider is what race and level are you? with the DON expansion there is race armors you can make for skill ups now. Depending upon the silk/pelt you need this could be a possible option for lower level skill ups. I can't guarentee a resale on this but it is an option to keep available. Depending on your level you can probably take advantage of the level and pelt availibilty to skill up. Not to mention doing a quest which is kind of fun if you're into that thing.
