  • Which LoY Robes?

Hello, I'm a 192 Tailor currently working towards 250. I did a combination of Solstice Robes, Robe of Tears, and studded acrylia to get from Wu's to here, but after not working on tailoring for several weeks to get the rest of my tradeskills to 250 and do the first 4 steps of Grimel, I'm picking it back up and having trouble finding a good path. Due to them removing one of the orc camps in Lfay, the already hard to find Sylvan Berries just got even more difficult to farm in quantity (I'm Koada'Dal, so no foraging), and Tears of Prexus have also been strangely scarce in the bazaar as of late. I've tried Othmir fur, but the drop rate isn't great on those either, and I'm an inefficient at best soloer being a cleric. I also don't have any friends with Akhevan Shadow Shears, and the only time I've seen one in the bazaar was weeks ago at 700k (not happening, heh), so that's out.

The main thing I'm wondering is which LoY robes people have found to be the easiest to do, both aquiring the research material and the dye material? I'm on FV, so I can do robes of any race, but have no real clue of which to pick. Resale value doesn't mean much to me, I usually just tribute them all, I'm mostly just looking for ease of farming. Does anyone who has done multiple races robes have any suggestions?

The Erudite ones are a pest - the dye is too hard to get - who wants to kill cute little seahorses anyway? I though the swatches would be hard, but for me, dye is tougher.

Since there are only 12 dyes in all, suggest you just look for what is for sale and at what price. Even if there is not enough there for you, this will be a guide. Once you have the dye, there are several choices for each race

Only 12 dyes yes, but 3 robes for each dye. I've tried looking at the bazaar as an estimate on the 36 but haven't really found anything conclusive. The easiest of the 36 robes may be one of the 212 triv ones, so then I need to find a second choice for 213+, etc. Just trying to get any opinions from people who have already done this before I go slogging through the mess of calculating quantity available vs dye/swatch price vs ribbon cost vs triv

        Which LoY Robes?

The gnome steamfont ones are the easiest to farm as far as I remember.

I'm on FV, so I can do robes of any race,
          What?

The robes are not race-restricted on FV?

Robe patterns aren't No Drop on FV, so if I want to make gnomish robes, I just have to ask one of my gnome friends to go do the "I need a robe pattern" spam for me in Ak'Anon.

Ah, didn't realize that the combines themselves were not restricted, thought it would be like cultural combines.

That is pretty neat to be able to do any cultural robe on FV. Makes the bazaar market more stable too I would imagine.

As an iksar, I have found:

                  1. Words of abatement / obligation / requisition can be easily merchant mined - obligation drop like candy in GoD, which is a good thing to know. (Back when Natimbi was more populated, I used to seed the two vendors there.)

                  2. There is very often honey berry for sale in the bazaar, or indigo ribbons.

                  3. Unfortunately robes of obligation require maneater dye, and NO-ONE sells maneater dye or maneater buds, because foraging them in any kind of quantity is a monster pita.

                  4. Sooo... robes of abatement / requisition are probably good to try. But keep your eyes peeled for cheap words of tenancy too.

As a High Elf Tailor, I found making Robes of Tears to be your best bet.

You can buy Tears of Prexus in the bazaar dirt cheap.. and due to their unique graphic (they look like a sow potion), it's fast and easy to vendor farm them (try going to the Magus at each LDoN camp and you'll usually get a few that way).

The sylvan berries can be foraged in LFay with a forage bot.... or you can just kill the orc camps in LFay (one clear of the 3 main camps will usually yield a berry or 2, and the repop time is maybe 5 minutes).

After 200, I was getting mad increases on these robes (2-3 increases per 20 combines... though I did have a few cases of going 60-80 combines with no increases).

They trivial at 232, and after that, I moved over to the Robes that use the Runes of Impulse. I tried Solstice robes... but with a Tailoring Mastery 1, I succeed way too often so it just gets too costly and time consuming. You can also do Othmirs, but I havent bothered yet. I'm a bit lazy and just kick back and vendor farm runes every few days as a way to take a break from the levelling grind.

Ooops... almost forgot, The Impulse robes tribute for about 650, so they're great for turn ins (Prexus robes are 120 if memory serves) for personal and guild tributes.

                    Hope that helps

Tears of Prexus are fairly common in Acrylia Caverns, so are Words of Requisition if you happen to be Iksar. You can kill two Gnomes with one stone by farming acrylia and saving Tears of Prexus at the same time. Save and sell the words of requisition for the Iksars! I got my drops mainly from the inner area, but I am pretty sure I got some Tears of Prexus from one of the Skeletons on the way into Inner Sanctum.

I also have found, well kind of unfortunately, that people often sell those words lately for 400 pp each. I won't spend that much! well, heck flawless rockhopper hides go for much less on my server, and are farmed easily.

Hey fellow Iksar! Go to Swamp of No Hope and actually hunt the plants. I have found that the maneating vines give the most drops, but it does say here, "plant models" The undead camp near Fironia Vie is AWESOME xp for levels 25 to 32 and the vines are dark blues roaming a lot across the creek.

Hold your breath and keep diving in the bazaar and farming. I check everday, 213 and still trying.

I'd get a list of the ingredients needed and check bazaar and your favorite vendors every day.

I'm still stocking up for DE cultural tailoring, so every day I check bazaar for:

cyclone (rune of the cyclone or cyclone runed swatch)
cursed (cursed clover of viesar or cursed dye)
burnish (words of burnishing or burnished runed swatch)
                        ashweed
                        ashen dye
                        elven blood
                        wing of xegony
                        wing etched swatch

I stopped asking in /ooc and the bazaar channel to buy rune of the cyclone because last time I did it, someone went thru and bought every DE tailoring component available in bazaar...

Also, the advice about combines using steamfont water is likely worth looking into. That dye is easy to make due to foraging and drops so the ribbons are usually cheap in bazaar because people use them as a skill up path.

If the other components aren't hard to find would be my choice.
                        What day is it anyway?

Human Cultural Robes - Robe Of Concussion Trival 232, Robe of Lodestone, Robe Of Obliteration trival 252, and Robe of Capacity trival 262 are what I mainly did to GM Tailoring.

Can find Rune of Concussion on just about every vendor at like 2pp a piece, so to 232 was easy. After that I just bought whatever runes/words I needed in bazaar when I saw them cheap. Worst part is the dye tho for the ribbons. Being a druid was easy to be able to go and forage, However it seemed I couldn't forage a Plains Root or a Plant Shoot to save my life when I wanted to. Luckly tho there was always someone who had the Plains Root for sale so if I had the plat I bought what I needed or bought the ribbons already made for usually less then 50pp a piece. Took awhile, but seemed to have fairly decent skill-ups from them. Would usually save a stack and get 2-4 skill ups. Would then turn a majority of them in for Tribute and Guild Tribute which added up quickly
Sometimes I would get impatient to GM it and do the Solstice robes, but bleh quit that when I went thru 20 chains with the first 20 combines I did. With no skill ups mind you...But once found 11 Flawless Rockhopper Hides on a vendor, and got 3 skill ups out of 11 combines. All in all would have to say the RNG always seemed kind to me with Tailoring But it made up for it by being mean to me with Fletching
