  • Boot gasket recipe?

Sorry, I mis-used the OoW submission thread and my post was deleted.

Someone posted the recipe for a boot gasket, but where did it come from? I've looked through several in-game books but haven't seen anything.

    The recipe said:
    Aligned steel thread
    Severed Feran Tentacle
    Sewing Needle

    Anyone seen that tentacle?

    Thanks,

It appears that people who were in beta know lots of recipes and aren't sharing most of them. This one, though, seemed important enough to share. Maybe it was supposed to be in the in-game books.

Sylphan, allow me to assure you that the recipes were not made available to the majority of beta testers, and there were not even recipes books available. There did seem to be some secret squirrel society who had access to them though. I love tradeskills, I wanted to beta test them (things like making sure the parts were appropriately tagged and spelled right, test sellback prices and tribute amounts, all the little niggles that should be caught in a beta) but was never able to ::shrug::

As per my post in the tinkering forum (sorry for not getting the info over here as well), a mention was made that tailors made this item needed by tinkers, but there was, basically, no recipe in any of the available books. So, I put the recipe in the datbase, to save on a lot of frustration.

EQTC *does* have access to the recipes at this time, however, the community made it rather clear after the GoD expansion that they were unhappy with us having all the recipes up so quickly after the expansion, preferring instead, to find out for themselves.

So, this time, we made available the augmentation recipes because, frankly, there are far too many variations, ending up with well over 1000 recipes, and we didn't want to struggle with them for months on end. Other than that, though, we've been allowing folks to struggle along *****except when the recipe books have gaping omissions***** So far, that's meant releasing 1 recipe, and giving some strong hints for a couple more because the recipe text left things out.

Unfortunately, we can't please everyone. Folks will complain because there are too many recipes released, they will complain that there are too few. There will be folks complaining because information from beta is being shared, and because it's not being shared.

{shrugsigh} It's pretty much a lose/lose situation for the site right now, and a lot of work for us regardless of how we deal with it.

Niami, my only complaint is with the USPS taking so long to deliver my copy of OoW. You guys are doing a great job of reporting and documenting OoW recipes!

My suggestion for people looking for recipes... check the EQTC site every day. New information is being added constantly.

Tradeskills for at least the last two expansions have been tested VERY late. As in we had 2 weeks to test it.

The recipes were posted on the SOE OOW Beta boards. We are *NOT* allowed to share information on these boards, even with other testers, sorry. I do not know why SOE does not invite every beta player, but that is something to take up with them not us.

every question I got for recipes was for augments. I would usually just say "too complex to share" which is true. I tried a few times to share the concept, but got asked every 5 minutes to explain, and it took 15 minutes to explain, so I could not get any testing done constantly trying to explain, so I gave up and just tested. Sorry if you felt left out, but I had to actually get to testing, not handholding other testers constantly.

SOE did NOT give any recipes that may be required for zone progression. That we have to find just like anyone else (*IF* it exists for this expansion)

The only reason we posted the augments straight up is there are over 3400 recipes to enter. I do NOT want the data entry folks to have to manually enter that many recipes.
We posted the Boot Gasket because we found that it was not included any any books by SOE. If we find another recipe like that we will also quietly push it.

Otherwise, we are holding back ONLY to let the community have a chance at discovery, not at a *we know it you don't" reason. We got complaints for GoD where we uploaded every recipe that was released the very first day, and the community got no chances to discover a recipe (though they still got to submit item data). I agreed with the complaints, so this time only entered the above for the above reasons.

Theoretically, all recipes are available in the books in game... theoretically at least
