  • At what level can I start tailoring below a trivial

I am a halfling tailor and have made it to 158 in the typical fashion. I am also very poor and not a high level character, so most of the options seem too expensive for me at this point.

I see in my cultural tailoring recipes that the Vale Reinforced Mask trivials at 215. If I farm the Brute Hides and forage the Acorns, the cost of these would be around 1PP (I think???). Is it too early for me to be trying this recipe, since I am only at 158?

What other options are there for poor characters in there 40s?

I am not quite high enough level to farm the Superb and Flawless Hopper Hides yet.

I really liked the folded bearskin potion bags. If you farm the spiderling yourself, you can make about 50 pp profit each on them. They are lore though so move slow.

Lemming fur backpacks are another decent option. If you can forage the lemming fur yourself, you can make some decent profit on it. However, good bazaar shopping would allow you to make this for skill ups without a loss, if you had to go that way.

Otherwise, you could start on the cultural stuff. Thats not that big of a gap, especially if you have a geerlok.

No matter what level you are, good luck finding those high quality Brute hides that you'll need for the halfling tailoring. I've been working my tailoring up for the Aid Grimel quest lately, and I have tried to farm some of these for cultural. They have a very low drop rate. I tried mostly in Frontier Mountains and Dreadlands for those pelts. After hours of tracking and killing, I would usually end up with 1 or 2. I just found that it was easier for me to farm hopper hides and silk to do the solstice robes. I also did ribbons for a while too, and sold most of those in the bazaar.

      Good luck!

You can start working on any recipe that is not level restricted no matter what the trivial but if you have a low level and a high trivialed item then your chance of success is pretty low. The trivial is there as a maximum level and gives you guidance on the probability of success.

        As a rule of thumb:

        Success % = Modified skill + 50 - (trivial * 75%)

Therefore if you have a skill of 158 and a trivial of 215 your chance of success is approx 47% without a geerlok or 55% with a geerlok.

If you then use the skillup calculator on site and type in your Wis etc, you can work out the probability of a skillup for each combine.

My own opinion? Farm the brute hides and sell them in bazaar then use the proceeds to fund skillups on the Ysheka Ribbons. IMHO you will get more skillup chances for your money that way. Brute hides are just too valuable in the bazaar to use for skilling.
