  • Are any Arctic Wyvern pieces actually useful?

I have a buttload of Arctic Wyvern hides that I'm going to use for skillups. But I prefer to make stuff that non-twinked mid-level people can actually find useful if I sell it for a reasonable price (rather than vendor the easiest thing to make, which I do sometimes anyway). For example, I make acrylia cloaks and legs rather than masks, most of the time, since the market is flooded with masks, but you don't see many people making cloaks. My skillups go slower this way, but I'm happier, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, it's been a while since I bought equipment. So, are there any pieces of wyvern that are useful in the way the cloaks are, that I might aim to make and sell? I don't have to make a ton of money on them, though it's always nice to recoup costs. Thanks for any input.

amazingly enough yes, I still sell all the pieces once in awhile Tunics and legs go for higher of course and occasionally I'll have someone asking for a full vis suit just cause it looks nice. I'd suggest keeping 1 or 2 of each vis piece in stock.

Personally I like the Cap. And as soon as I get enough cash I intend to get it. 10 wisdom is hard to get at level 47 for a dropped head piece.

Well I can tell you not to make masks...I still have 7 sitting on my seller mule from a month ago. /sigh My price on them doesn't even cover cost of components - I just want rid of them.

I've decided to steer clear of velium studded gear and just go for velium reinforced - costs less in the long run to make because of way less coldain temper.

I try to keep my trader stocked with a few pieces of arctic wyvern armor at all times. Mask and gorget dont seem to be worth bothering with, bracers and cap seem to sell pretty decent. Havent tried with any of the other pieces yet, have trouble getting enough velium studs to stay in stock generally as is.

I've been making the coldain temper myself to avoid some costs, and god! it's a tedious process. I have over 500 wyvern hides to go through, I may kill myself before I get done

                  Oh Kytelae, ouch

I used to make my own Coldain temper, but the studs just take too dang much. With making CE's for solstice robes, I just can't make anymore. I'll happily buy my Coldain temper and head straight to the forge.

I wish, I wish, I wish they'd put pre-made celestial essence on a merchant for like 3pp each or something - with all the clicking we have to do anyway, why oh why must we click through a no-fail combine. May it a difficult merchant to get to - make us do faction quests so he'll sell to us - anything.

Just make it purchasible (and not 10pp from money grubby PC vendors in the bazaar)

Chenier I agree totally, between cultual tailoring and non cultural, brewing , baking, all skills really, my wrist aches so bad from all the subcombines like celestial essences, that I have no heart for the main one.

I would gladly work on a faction quest to buy readymade essence. GLADLY!!

Every once in a while there will be someone on EMarr selling em for 4pp per, and rarely 3pp. What I've taken to doing, is using beggars as my sweatshop labor.

If I see a newb begging for a few plat to buy spells or a piece of gear, I offer to buy all the CE's they care to make at 3pp per. It's almost a 100% markup for them, and since it's no-fail they can't lose. I've even paid for the mortar & pestle for a couple. It's worked out so well, that some have come back to me a week later and asked if I would buy another 10 or 15 stacks from them again if they made them up (which of course I do). Nice symbiotic relationship.

I've been selling Arctic Wyvern for a long time, and have a complete inventory on my Bazaar mule. These are my sales stats.

                        Belt, sold 7, 117% markup
                        Boots, sold 2, 295% markup
                        Cloak, sold 14, 132% markup
                        Gloves, sold 2, 48% markup
                        Gorget, sold 8, 168% markup
                        Leggings, sold 15, 117% markup
Mask, sold 43, sell at loss (were skillup products)
                        Shoulder, sold 1, 9% markup
                        Skullcap, sold 25, 157% markup
                        Sleeves, sold 2, 76% markup
                        Tunic, sold 19, 202% markup.

As you can see, Tunic, Skullcap, Leggings and Cloak are the most profitable items to make.

Markups are for my current sales. In general, markups have been going down over the last 12 months due to market competition (note: markups have actually increased over the last two weeks, because of fewer competitors).

Markups are based on the following assumed costs... A.W. Hide 15 pp each, Cobalt Cod 5 pp each (I fish myself), Velium Pieces 12 pp each (I Bazaar buy, vendor mine or farm) and Coldain Velium Temper 10 pp each (I make these myself). I factor in my combine failure rate. I'm a 250 tailor.
