  • Tailoring Skillup Path

I'm a lvl 65 iksar monk, and can farm the components for any of the items i've considered making on my route up.

I have a camp that drops Words of Requisition frequently and is the reason i chose to use that path for 30 points of skilling up, and that doubles with the golden indigo ribbons i make up to 162.

Does anyone see anything wrong with this path such as a different item that would be easier to farm, or an item that takes less components? This question isn't targetting the 202 to 232 gap, but the entire path overall.

    Golden Indigo Ribbon 162
    Lemming Fur Backpack 176
    Acrylia Studded Mask 188
    Etched Scale Snake Whip 202
    Robe of Requisiton 232
    Acrylia Reinforced Mask 242
    Othmir Fur Cap 250

Edit: 15k later and using only half my foraged dye stock, sitting pretty at 188. The next gap to fill looks pretty bleak, but i guess i'm gonna make some solstice robes then move to Robe of Requisition.

Don't forget to consider you ability to farm plat as well as components.

For example, my guess is you will be much better off farming plat to buy components for ribbons to get you to 187 than your current plan.

      skillup path

I agree with Papy, if you can earn the money it might be wise to do ribbons to 187. You may even consider depending on availability of components to do some lower LoY robes (silver ribbons) if there are lots available in the bazaar.

        <-- Also has a 65 iksar monk

I would recommend you made the ribbons you will need later on for the robes.

Robes of Misery are definitely worth making later on, as they sell really fast. Bear in mind you can pick up some of the words very cheaply in the bazaar, and also on vendors (usually even cheaper). I suggest you make the ribbons for most robes, and stockpile them for later. I would also advise saving the high level robe combines for later, as your skill improves. (Don't blow a Robe of Misery combine with a low skill, you're talking 6k+ potential profit down the tube) AND NOT MANY PEOPLE MAKE 'EM Price them high, there are rarely any others for sale.

On Fennin, in the bazaar, prices tend to be roughly:
        Abatement: 1-5pp
Tenancy tends to be sold at a price I'm not willing to pay
Requisition seems to be the most expensive (400pp+) but you can pick them up for peanuts on vendors
        Obligation: pretty cheap
Misery: I pay up to 50pp each because the profit on the robes is so good
Asylum: occasionally sell for a decent price.

Iksar robes, in summary... most of them won't sell. (But they give good tribute ) But grab words of Misery whenever you see them, the occasional success will help fund your skill-ups.

Here's another tip - get a few stacks of robe patterns when you go to Cabilis - just because it irritates me to have to run there.

I'd go platinum white ribbons to 182, you'll have a hard time buying enough lemming furs to get all those skill-ups. Steamfont spring water drops off kobolds, minotaurs, and earth elementals in Steamfont, as well as being foraged.

Acrylia studded mask is a great choice to 188. Save the flawless rockhopper pelts for some acrylia reinforced masks later on.

Snake whips are in the same class as lemming fur backpacks I'm afraid, people now know the components are for skill-ups and they're overpriced, at least on Quellious. You might be able to make some if you go exp hunting, but they'll cost too much to buy in Bazaar.

Ceremonial solstice robes are actually fairly good at 188, not too many successes so the combines aren't too expensive. You'll need to max jewel crafting to make the chains though, or find an enchanter friend with JCM3.

The successive robes are wise choices. Feel free to do othmir caps anytime after 200, they're relatively low trivial and good skill-ups compared to the 335 trivial recipes.

Any member of the race can make their LoY cultural robes. This was fairly convenient for my High Elf Cleric when working this area of tailoring up.

                  Skilling Up

I was confusing farming Holgresh furs in WL with Lemming Furs. I've also come to the conclusion that doing the LoY ribbons with Honey berry till 182 then acrylia masks to 188 will be a better path.

Holgresh fur stuff will get you to 250, if you choose to farm it. Might be a bit expensive though. (Gold thread, and the mana vials require sapphires)

I'm partially responsible for that, I'm afraid. I made the top-end whips for sale, having found a large supply of aged muramite scales for cheap, and one day I got greedy and cleared the Bazaar of every hynid mane that was priced under 200 pp for a few hours. By the next day, new people coming to market were pricing in the 200+ range, and it's just gone up from there. I should have been more careful about leaving up some cheap ones, so new people would price cheaply, but I couldn't believe that people weren't taking advantage of such an easy recipe (sub-250 trivial, maybe a couple hundred pp in costs, I sell them quickly at 4 K) and figured it would only be a matter of time before the price shot up anyways.
