  • Down and dirty tailoring

I've been really good about putting all the work necessary into raising my tradeskills and camping my own components and doing things slowly but surely. I spent countless hours in Hollowshade and Twilight Sea farming for smithing stuff, I've made more Misty Thicket Picnics than I care to remember, and I have been proud that I did the work and that I earned those skill ups.

    However...

Tailoring is just TOO hard! As a Barbarian Warrior, I have zero choice in cultural or class recipes to get through this. With all the raiding my guild does and my new job, I just don't have the time to farm things like I used to -- and besides which, it seems that the sheer number of things I need to farm makes it daunting to even start.

So my question is this -- lets say you had a big supply of platinum and very little time for subcombines and such -- whats the cheapest way to push skill from 176 to 240 as quickly as possible. I know the recipes available -- I don't know how much one SHOULD pay for things (like hides, acrylia, etc.) and I need an idea of total cost for the entire venture. I have about 250k -- how much more would I need to pretty much guarantee an end to this tradeskill nightmare once and for all? Thanks for the help!

If my spreadsheet can be believed, you should be able to do it for that making solstice robes with maybe a few kpp left. This assumes you can get emeralds imbued at cost, farm your own spider silks, and get your gem studded chains at cost from someone with JM3. If not, you could easily spend 500k making robes.

Someone posted an interesting comparison on robes vs. Velious/Luclin tailoring and concluded that if you have pay over 200pp per pelt/hide then it was as just as cheap to do robes.

    Your mileage may vary.

Another item not to overlook is the LoY ribbons until 187. I know that isn't a lot of points left for you, but it's been a nice skillup path for me so far, and I intend to finish 'em out. The platinum ribbons are costly at 100pp+, but you wont find many combines that aren't at this point.

        Cultural is overrated.

Im a halfling, Im sitting at tailoring 240 and I havent made a single halfling piece. Pass on farming kunark greens for hours...ill farm EK greens (spiders) instead

Solstice robes was dang expensive but if you have 250k and wouldnt bat an eyeball at spending a lot of it, yer all set bud.

Aye I personally would suggest Ribbons to 187, Solstice robes to 210, ethereal swatches to 212 then start looking for good deals on velium, arctic wyvern and cobalt cod.
