Has anyone done Solstice Robes after Wu's? Any thoughts on it? Tremendous waste of money? Better than farming?

Solstice Robes at 158?

OK, this is personal opinion only but... I've found that soltice robes in general are a total waste of time. Please do keep in mind that I'm looking for the least expensive route though and it may be good for other things.
It cost me a little over 1k to do about 30 combines of the robes. This does not include the cost of the chains.
On the other hand, you can invest that same 1k and get the combines for 3-5 acrylia studded cloaks from the bazaar. Which, with a decent sucess rate, you can either break even or even make pp on. I didn't actually start my acrylia studded until 178 but with a geerlok, I rarely failed and thus made about 200 pp per cloak.
Another option to look into are the lemming fur bags and folded bearskin potion bags (lore). They have a lower trivial and, if you keep an eye on the bazaar for deals, the components are cheap enough to allow for a small profit margin.
It is much slower but, I just find it much more fulfilling to know that my tailoring is supporting itself as it goes.

Hmm, I see. I would probably do acrylia gear if the hides were available. They never seem to be for sale, and when they are they are 200-300/each.
The way I've been skilling up.. the least farming I have to do, the better. hehe Money is not an issue really, however I refuse be gouged for components either. I just re-read the tailoring trivial list and noticed the ribbons. I bought some dyes and am now at 180 tailoring. I will start solstice robes at 200 no matter what, I am just trying to get some feedback on starting them a bit early.Impresario Lexicus Magnavin - 65 Maestro

After Wu's I did some ribbons. I'd say it's a judgement call on when to stop doing them if money is tight, if money isn't as much of a problem I'd say do 'em till you triv 'em. Heckuva lot easier to get components for them than most of the other stuff. Steam dye isn't too hard to get for first tier ribbons and at least the gold ribbons are nice chunk cheaper than solstice robes would be. And much less subcombines if subcombines bother you.
