  • New robes vs Wu's for skilling?

Sadly, this won't help my troll in the least bit to skill up his tailoring to do his shawl quest, but at the very least this may help my chanter.

So which seems to be the more cost and time efficient - these new robes or Wu's?

(Note - not a rant or anything - just want to know.)

Well, a guildee reported that the silver ribbon was 15.7p, so that makes for a lot of Headys and EK farming annoyance to overcome.

Maybe for those times when I have a lot of plat and am just tired of wu's, but they don't look like much of a bridge recipe to any but the most plat-wasteful.

    IMHO.

silvery blue ribbon silver ribbon, ocean dye, hickory handled shears
      Trivial isn't listed yet...

Is this what you were talking about?

if it is all vendor sold, it would depend on 2 things, sellback and remaining component cost...

To avoid using 6 silks, 4 heady kiolas, and a Vial of mana for each combine I'd spend quite a pretty penny.

        vendor

not everything is vendor sold.... you need some foraged parts and some dropped words/runes.

so i guess it would depend on which is more a pain to get. i'm assuming it's going to be harder to get the foraged/words/runes than silk in the kind of bulk you need to effectively skill up on.

Don't know about Wu's, but could be big win against hoppers

It might not be better than Wu's, but it could be a big win againts hopper hides. The trivial for Robe of sorcery is > 163. I was finding the research items on vendors and bazaar, though they might disappear once people realise how useful they are. Getting the sylvan berries wasn't too hard for a 61 Wizard - nuked orcs and brownies in LF. Did 3 attempts, 1 failure at tailoring 160 and 1 success and 1 failure at 163 - no skillups on robes

For the skill block you are looking at, it may just be. 15.4 plat for the ribbon. That is 308 plat a stack. Kill everything in lesser Feydark until you have a stack of berries. Then just make the crimsom ribbons. Not sure if there is a sell back possable. I know the ribbons are no drop, but did not check the the after product, as I was trying for the robe.

The ribbons are droppable after combining and there is a definite progression from the silver to the gold to the platinum. Could very well be a gateway to 200+ if you have the plat to spend, but aren't those of us skilling up already spending plat if you don't farm your own. Also, some components, unless you are the right class, you have to buy anyway. Just my 2 coppers.

                Anyone get a sellback price?

It could be viable if it sells back for near the cost of the ribbon.

                  Sellback price was considerably less...

Going off of memory the sellback for silver was ~9pp gold was ~15pp and platinum ~22pp.

I'm hoping some kind person that needs them to skill up on robes will come buy them off my trader .

                    Robe sell back

After Creating the Robe of Mana, and a Robe of Cuncussion, I checked the vendor. Unfortuntaly the buyback price was just over 9pp.

I'm not sure of a replacement for Wu's to get through 158... will probably be a viable way for the rich folks. But after 158, It seems that the highest level ribbon combine (using platinum ribbons at 105pp each) trivials at 187... which is a VERY EASY step on the path to 200, as opposed to Solstice robes, velious or cultural (for those who have the option). The combines are incredibly simple, shears + ribbon + dye, return new ribbon and shears or just shears.

Any characters of mine who go for tailoring are going to be using these ribbon combines. Course, I can say that as I have two smiths capable of making the old school cultural and I make a reasonable amount of money to fund my tradeskilling with that.

For anyone who has a decent amount of cash to burn on the ribbons, they should be able to get to 187 easily. Well, not counting foraging/farming for the dye components. Considering that I was only foraging (as opposed to hunting as well) last night and got enough components for 30 combines... I think this route is very viable.

Trying to get enough materials for 30 combines in Velious armor, Cultural (Halfling) or Solstice robes would take me at least a few nights (I work during the day). I only wish the ribbons went up a bit higher, but that's NOT A COMPLAINT!! ;-) Just a little, 'I wish...' statement.
