  • Have some questions, any info is welcome.

Just want to start off by saying THANK YOU to the people running this site, hands down the best resource I have found regarding TS.

Now on to my question. I have a halfling druid alt lvl 26 that I created for the purpose of creating leatherfoot haversacks. Well, my main is a 52 ranger with all trade skills at or above 150, tailoring being the lowest because I am poor and could not afford LoY ribbon, to buy hopper skins, even tried to farm them but on sol ro seem to be camped all the time in dawnshroud.
My druid has maxed out Wu's armor and I am collecting dye compenents to maybe attempt some LoY ribbons but, I am trying to find a way to get my skill high enough to make the bags without going broke and those ribbons are expensive. I have gone through all the guides I can find and it seems that I am the only poor player in EQ because everyone else has 100's of 1000's of plat lying around to buy what they need in these guides. And me with only 30K in the bank after 52 lvls. So I guess I am asking if anyone has a reliable, yet cheap way to get to around 240ish. I have no problem farming pieces for combines/sub-combines just wondering which I should go for in order to get these last 90 skill-up points and I definatly cannot afford solstice robes. Any information that I can gather will be greatly appreciated and I thank anyone who can help me out with this, thank you all.

By the way the druid has a wisdom of 235, if it matters, and I am not doing this just to make plat either, I am trying to make them for monks in my guild and other guild mates who may need them.

Take your ranger and farm Velious; otters, wyverns, tigeraptors, black panthers. Forage and fish for temper components. Farm CC for velium.

Can also get a little xp for your ranger while killing brutes in Dreadlands. Look under halfling cultural tailoring in the recipies section.

Same answer as always. Either you feed it (tailoring that is) time or pp. There is no cheap way that doesn't cost a lot of time (i.e. farming, fishing, foraging). There is no fast way that doesn't cost a lot of pp.

And there is no conspiracy to hide any cheap fast way from the public. You (and anyone) can't find a way because there is none. Bite down and grind it through, that's all I can say.

Yes I have checked on the cultural and I need HQ brute hides. I have about a stack from farming them in Warslik woods, took about a week 4 hours a day, but they are a rare drop and I have never gotten a HQ brute hide in dreadlands, killed lots of them.
I am starting to think hibashira is right after all. I am just going to have to buckle down. I dont mind to farm at all becasue it breaks up the same old same old of the game. Plus I only have a little bit of cash that I can put towards this so that is, I guess, what I am going to have to do.
But should it be the velious leather or luclin acrylia. Just wondering which has a more plentiful supply of materials, both being farmed and all. Thanks again for all the input.

              Here is a tip:

Find the ribbons that are used in the first few tiers of LoY robes. skill up your tailoring making those ribbons and then sell them.

I was skilling up making human LoY robes. I found the essence of rathe (skill 222) and runes of concussion (232) to be the most common spell components so I focused on those robes to skill 232. I would have loved to have someone selling the ribbons for these robe attempts.

Talk to some other high level tailors out there from other races to see what ribbons they wish were available in the bazaar and skill up on those ribbons.

I'd say the supplies for Velious and Luclin leathers drop in equally disappointing quantities.

It just boils down to whether you want to farm hides/ore AND temper components (Vel), or just hides/ore. (Luc)

You also need a Misty Acorn for each attempt at Halfling cultural (if i am not mistaken)

These are not easy to get in large amounts, and seeing as you need one for each Backpack combine i would save them for that.

Thanks again for all the replys, they are most helpful.

I believe I will save my acorns for the haversacks and try to go the acylia studded/reinforced way. Seems like it has less ingredients overall. Also I can get the hides in the same places that I can get the acyila, dawnshroud and scarlet desert. If you all have any better places to look for the flawless and superb hides please let me know. I know that they are a RARE drop everywhere though.
I am sure that I will be throwing in some arctic wyvern and cobalt drake items as well to try to get to that 240ish marker plus I can work on my fishing at the same time. It is farmin time, hehe.

Well I just happen to pick up a HQ brute hide in DL with my 30 Paladin along with a few brute hides... my halfling tailor will be working his behind off to get the other components to start back up with tailoring.

How on earth did those little Halflings ever discover that Brute hides make armor that only Halflings seem to be able to wear... I know this is another question of development logic, but honestly...

I've had some increddibly good luck farming Velium in ToFS. Almost never crowded and quite doable. And yes, being a human tailor, if I could find ribbons for sale (need plains dye, & jagged pine dye) I would have been a happy man, but making the swatches from runes of concussion & especially essence of rathe would have been a Godsend

Farming the othmir for otter hides is easy, downside is you need 2 furs for every combine though. But if pp is your problem and you have a lot of time then hit up the otter camp for a change in pace once in a while. The gems and armor that drop off the othmir will pay for the silver thread and clear mana vials. Just takes Forever to collect say 100 othmir fur for just 50 combines.
I wouldn't suggest doing othmir up to 250, but like I said, it might be a good break from whatever else your doing and you get components too.
