Ribbon question

Hi all! My first post on the boards, so be nice..lol

Was just wondering about the ribbons as a next step after doing Wu's. Almost trivial with all the Wu's pieces and rockhopper hides are pretty expensive, not to mention acrylia. I'm curious if these ribbons sell in the bazaar? I would probably save any that I could use myself at higher skill levels, but some that seem to be easier for me to make, due to availability of the dye components, are not usable for High Elf tailors. How's that for a long sentence?

Are there some that will resell better than others? Any help with this would be great. Thanks

a) Ribbons for LoY-Tailoring donīt sell - at least they donīt on KD-server.
b) You need LoY for them since the NoDrop-part of the recipe can only be bought there.
c) You need a forager for the other parts.
d) Ribbon-making is expensive, think at least 3k pp per skillup as soon as you reach platinum.

Ribbons will sell in the bazaar, if you are very patient. I finished making my ribbons within 1 month of LoY's release and I still have a couple on my mule. I have sold many of them. I do sell them lower then the 105 I paid for the plain ribbons, but I get more then the 25 offered from vendors.

You will definately want to try to make ribbons that your race can turn into robes, it will save money in the long run. Lichenclover is fairly easy to get foraging in field of bone. It was the dye I used the most. You probably will need to use some of the others, unless you are patient, but try to do that minimally.

It was a long time ago when I did my ribbons, but I found them to be a very fast skill up route. I was 161 or 2 when LoY came out and zoomed up to 187 insanely fast. I'm eventually going to do the shawl on my enc and will use this route for her skill ups as well.

Welcome to the boards Poulgera! I think You will find the people here incredibly helpful and courteous!
On Vazaelle, I've found that the ribbons sell quite slowly, and it is highly unlikely that you will recoup your full costs of what it took to make the ribbon. I've seen ribbons selling for less than 50 plat for example. However, if you have the money to invest, it can be a super fast way to raise your skill.
I was a dummy & thought that Studded acrylia was the only way to level and bought all my supplies instead of farming. It was incerdibly slow and expensive (is 350 too much for a superb rockhopper pelt? How about 400?), and was at a time when Acrylia was selling at even more of a premium (I thought i was being clever by buying small bricks & large bricks & reducing them to pieces). I had the money to invest in it, but if I had gone the ribbon route, it would have cost me about a quarter of what I spent.
If you're a druid or ranger, and making the ribbons just to skill up, I would suggest Jaggedpine Forest. While You're foraging Plant Shoots you can get nice exp from the anacondas and griffs (which the meat can be used for high level baking) and the gnolls. Good luck & have fun.

I've managed to sell a few on Fennin.

My strategy was to make the ribbons used by non-foraging classes... some crazy idea about a captive market, lol. Since then I've seen better advice, which is to make the ribbons for the most valuable/popular robes. (Not sure what those are.)

I'd suggest you make the ribbons that your own class can use, but as an iksar, I know how painful it is to fail a ribbon using one of those oh-so-rare maneater dyes.

Poulgera, welcome! On the Stromm server ribbons sell not at all. I skilled through them and despite the loss of plat I am very happy I worked through them. Instead of selling them, I turned them in to my Tribute master in my home town. I now have a nice chunk of tribute points saved up for the "next big raid."

Skill Ups

I am finding that the Lemming Fur packs are a good route to 176, the furs are usually from 75-150pp in the Bazaar on Terris (I never pay over 100). While the paltinum thread gets your cost up to about 450pp each (Including failures) they seem to sell for 550-600pp so you make anough to keep rolling. I have made 9 bags so far and went from 162 to 165 with 207 Int, geerlock and a smidgen of luck.

Yep I've used lemming fur bags as a nice skill up path since I maxed out Wu's, I had several stacks of them from foraging in adventures and used them to skill up from like 160-170 or so on them, still don't think they are trivial and they seem to have a good rate for skill ups, at one time I got 4 skill ups in 8 attempts.

Skill up on bamboo from Stonebrunt. Erudite robes are great, and I can't be bothered to forage for some and make a ribbon every time I see a cheap Rune of the Tempest. I trust there will be similar Erudites on your server.
