  • New Recipes?

I noticed on Morgen Rasp with my newbie level 8 Berserker (tailoring:8) that some recipes showed up at trivial 36 that I had never heard of and cannot find here. Large Leather Mask, for instance, consists of Large Rawhide Mask + fish oil = Large Leather mask with slightly better stats (I imagine).

Fish Oil is hard for a newbie to make so anyone know any thing about this?

fish in tox forest of the karanas. you want either greengill salmon (tox) or thunder salmon (karanas). put salmon and skinning kinfe in tackle box. yeilds 2 fish eggs. fish egg and flask of water in brew barrel yields fish oil.

i do it this way because until recently i wasn't lv 46. not sure if i can get to plane of disease for those fish now or not.

I _know_ the recipes got mentioned when they UI went to test, since it's low enough trivial that people trying it out saw it.

In the general forum, eniamn mentions that his favorites list got messed up and he saw a recipe that includes:

        Emblem of Torment
        3 Keen Metal Spikes
        some sort of skin
        some sort of tannin

I wonder if it can be figured out.

          its purple diamond of torment.

just looked through every "skin" on lucy. 256 entries. nothing popped out at me. didn't see the tannin either. so sorry.

did find blackened mithril netted gloves lucy

          and toughened sinew lashings lucy

check your favorites and lets see what gets revealed.

edit boruk hide sounds right actually. no wonder i couldn't find it looking for "skin". try the recipe without the tannin just in case.

so 3 keen metal spikes, boruk hide, purple diamond of torment, mantle pattern (i beleive since it replaced the mantle recipe), and some tannin. its close though i know it.

Well, for the Torment recipie, I'd guess Kaniz or Boruk hides for the 'skin', as it sounds like a PoTorment studded leather to me. No idea on the metal, or the tannin though.

Edit: keen metal spikes are forraged in PoTorment, apparently. Tannin's still a mystery..

I could be confused, but I thought the gloves were one of the drops for Druid Jaggedpine armor quests... from SolB?

Correction: the gloves are the end result of one of those quests.

PoP leathers do not seem to have a tannin as part of the recipe, though - they're more along the lines of:
(Skin) + (X studs) + (Emblem of Whatever) + Pattern.

And Emblems are (Plane-specific Diamond + Plane-specific JC bar) or similar (I think), so maybe Purple Diamond of Torment + um...cord of tormented muscle? for an Emblem of Torment and then combine that, boruk or kaniz hide, X keen metal spikes and a pattern?

Okay, trying to summarise the Torment recipe now:

Emblem of Torment or Purple Diamond of Torment (eniamn, can you confirm which, if you remember? Emblem would, at least, be in line with the other leathers)
x Keen Metal Spikes (foraged in PoTorment)
                    Boruk Hide
Pattern (probably a visible armor piece, keeping in line with the rest)
An unknown Tannin (again, confirm this? all the other studded recipes don't take a tannin)

The problem here is going to be the purple diamond, personally I have no way in hell of getting any of the bloods for this, so I'm out on the experimenting front (and besides, if I did, I'd turn them into ceramic shackles ;-) )

Edit: okay, I'd not been up long at the time ;-) Torment, not Nightmare

In your above post, you of course mean "torment" not "nightmare", just as a clarification.

ps - This is clearly a special case recipe. I am not surprised with the tannin. After all, all the other PoP leathers require you to smith the studs. So perhaps that is the trade-off for this one. *shrug*

tannin i am not as sure of as the rest.

once i saw it boruk hide looked really familiar, like it was in the recipe. had never seen purple diamond of torment before either.

i also had another recipe changed to friestrand wristbands. that was why i thought it was an emblem at first.

again it may not take the tannin but the other stuff i'm almost definite on. 95% sure if that means anything to you. i've only been to pot and poj so far so i didn't recognize any of the parts at first. had just read the elemental recipes so i recognized firestrand and thought the other one unimportant.

edit to clarify. the three recipes were firestrand wristbands using the emblem which is how i confused it with the purple diamond the next day. the other was acrylia reinforced sleeves with the tannin. it might not have a tannin. i could be wrong about that. the rest does sound correct though. it was late and i was tired. i had 3 mutant recipes so they got a little mixed up when i didn't study them that hard. if my memory for useless facts wasn't so good i doubt i would have remembered any of it at all.
