  • Supplies Farming

I'm not very much interested in tradeskills and Im only doing them for the Coldain Prayer Shawl quest. My goal is to get my tailoring to 170 with the least effort possible. I have a big budget and have been buying all the supplies I can in the bazaar. Can anyone give me a good place to farm crystalline silks or other supplies im going to need to get to 170? Thanks in advance...

-Eastern Karana for the spider silks for Wu's
-Crystal Caverns in the spider tunnels for the crystalline silks
-foraging in several different zones to get dye components for LoY ribbons

Wu's is tedious work (all that heady kiola), but worked well for me since it's easier for me to farm spider silk than it is to sit on my butt and forage all day long for a stack of components. Of course, you could just buy everything in the bazaar...

Silks can be had in Crystal Caverns or Velks. They are a little easier in Crystal Caverns if it's not crowded, you can find them down the tunnel past the Dwarf village. If I remember correctly, they also drop from the spiders found in the mines of Thurgadin. I soloed from 40 to 42 or so there, and if memory serves I came up with quite a few that I donated to a guildie working on tailoring at the time. Coldain heads drop from the goos down there also, which can be used for faction or sell for a pretty penny. CC or Velks would be better for silks though, only reason I mention it is it might be a good spot to go if your just not in the mood to go into the caverns or to Velks and just want a place to kill some spiders for awhile without much interference (when I was there I hardly ever ran into anybody).

Shade Silk from Shak Dratha in Shadeweavers Thicket are great for skilling through the Cured silk phase and have a far higher drop rate than any normal spider silk farming i've done.

Not to mention the shear fun of casting supernova on 30-50 little black aliens and watching them all fall.

go to alla's look up crystal spider on bestiary.

get brewing to 122 on fetid esscense and make your own headys. buy all the spider silk in the bazaar.

I'm not very much interested in tradeskills
dont phrase it that way. i am interested in tradeskills for more than my shawl though i'm working on it too.

the main site has a lot of good skilling guides too. normally steamfont springwater is the easiest ribbon dye component to find.

            Maker of Picnics.
Cooker of things best left unidentified.

You say now that you're only interested in tradeskills for the shawl quest...that's why I started doing them...then I got caught hook, line, and sinker...and I can't seem to stop!!

Heh, i got into them for braggin rights, as i know i'll never have uber gear due to not bein in a Time guild, hehe. It makes for a nice change of pace from the constant exp grind tho, and provides somethin productive to do while LFG.

Velk is good for the crystalline silks.
EK is good for normal silks.

I started because I didn't know what else to do with all the *stuff* I foraged and I didn't like sitting around LFG while my husband ( a monk ) was getting groups as soon as he logged on. Now he has lots of AA's and I have... no money and barely any AA's because I became a trade skill junkie.

                  *twitch*

I wouldn't have it any other way

I can't believe your husband went off and joined groups without you!

If you really have lots of plat and don't care about spending it, do LOY ribbons. You can find all you need to know about them on the main site but basically, buy in bazaar, the foraged dye component (or the completed dyes if you are not interested in brewing) and combine with a single ribbon purchased in Gunthak Lighthouse. Pay attention to which dyes you're using at what level, too, as some will take you to 162, others to 187. I suggest saving the 187 ones for once you are past 162! I did all my combines in a collapsible sewing kit.

good luck, and please don't complain about how awful tradeskills are to all your friends who love them! we already know
