  • Once again...

I know it has been asked many times, but the server makes answer very different each time.

I have been working on my tradeskills, and all except tailoring will be soon maxed.
Pottery, Jewelery, Brewing, Fletching... not many points left on baking and some farming crap to finish blacksmithing.

I left my tailoring behind, I know it's gonna be a real pita to raise it, but well...

I was wondering if you could give me some advice to skill up my tailoring.

    Here is my situation :

I am Enchanter 65, EP flagged, 305 Int atm on VS server.
Tempers for ribbons are extremly rare (I never saw one on bazaar), and I was thinking on skilling up to 250 just doing the solstice robe. I was planning on getting Jewelcraft Master 3 to reduce some costs on this combine, and then working from 164 to 250.

I must admit that the tailoring tradeskills scares the sh*** out of me, it looks like a real pita, and I really would appreciate some advices.

    Thanks a lot.

dsp you can charm the hoppers and make big pets. they can drop hides for studded (188) and reinforced(240's). acrylia caverns is best i hear for acrylia.

go to stonebrunt and kill pandas for bamboo shoots for the dye for ribbons.

tag some kael raids. go to cs and slaughter the wyverns. drakes dispel be warned. the named drakes are the only faction hits so dont kill them. fish there while you med if you need to as a 65 chanter. cobalt cod in a brew barrel for the oil i think but might take something from the shawl quests.

your race might have robes so be on the lookout for the research drops used in your robes.

Farm kobolds in Steamfont-they drop water like crazy and are stupidly easy to kill-levels 7-10 or so. Those ribbons will get you to 182.

Farm drolvargs in FV (castle on the east wall). Level 30ish, drop lichenclover about as commonly as the kobolds in SF, will get you to 187.

Do solstice robes to 210-anything past that and you have WAY too many successes to be practical.

Etheral silk to 212 (hey, take the freebie points where you can)

Then do anything you can get your hands on to 240+. LoY robes if your race has them and they're practical (being an enchanter, your race will have them, practicality is another issue), Velious combines (artic wyverns, black panthers, tigerraptors and (if you don't have faction concerns) othmir all work well and are reasonably farmable), acrylia (superb hides were too stupid rare IMHO, I pretty much skipped these).

sol robes to 210 (up to you for me the skill ups on them were awful for others they are great)

2 freebies with the eth silk

        212 - 250

anything you can get your hands on like the poster above said id farm velium and hopper and buy the wyvern/drake/panter/yew/acrylia

id buy flawless hopper when i could get it some days id get lucky in the bazzar.

just keep an eye out in the bazzar for good deals on hides and it wont be so bad

but yeah it definaly wont be fast

I've been helping a 65 enchanter farm for tailoring...

My advice, charm one of the named dudes in CS and kill everything that moves, if the place is empty. Or grab a druid/wizard, pull everything and AE. Otters are cool because you don't need to farm anything other than otters; wyverns cool because they're there and you might as well.

          But then, that's my suggestion.

I wouldn't suggest going solstice robes - chanter/ae nuker combo or just chanter charm farming will be more efficient.

And/or get the shei scissors and get extra "free" points on etheral swatches.

          *edit*
And on faction: you want the wyvern and otters to be KoS so you can pull them easier. =) But the faction hit you get from killing the named in CS is nothing.

Also, when doing the otters, be sure to kill the Chief when he pops by himself. He's not stunnable or snareable; the other named are stunnable (tho they resist a lot), but not snareable. The named otters at the South end are wusses - just pull them like normal. And the sellers at the north won't aggro until you hit them, so just let them be.

I'm up to 232 skill and have gotten almost all my skillups between 180 and 232 on solstice robes. Yes I get alot of successes but I also get a lot of skillups along the way. When I got sick to death of doing the pre-combines, I switched to farming othmir furs. On those, I succeeded every single combine and only 1 skillup. So I'll stick with the robes till I finish tailoring up

Elinea, are you a Tunare worshipper?

I just wouldn't suggest solstice robes to a non Tunare priest because the pre combines are enough of a pain without trying to find someone to imbue 40 gazillion emeralds.

Otter hats, however, are easy for a chanter since they can make their own mana vials.

Yes, I am a Tunare priest, so I see your point. Also, I have imbued hundreds of emeralds for my guildmates so they could have a change from othmirs or rockhoppers/grimlings (no fees for guildies). It may not be as convenient as doing it oneself, but it can be an option

If you were lucky enough to get the mass imbue emerald spell before the deity restriction went into effect, then solstice robes are viable. I was lucky enough to grab it and mem it as a Karana worshipper before the change, but I was already a 250 tailor by then. I just got it to help out my guildmates out.
