  • HQ Lion Skins

/sigh. Ok, it's been absolutly months of hunting the Highland Lions in North Karana and I haven't seen on in ages. Similarly, I haven't seen anyone saying /auc WTS Fleeting Quiver in over a month now.

Are these things still dropping? Is it my imagination or have they dropped off the face of Norrath? Can anyone confirm that they have seen one of these HQ Lion Skins drop in the last month?

I'm pretty sure I've seen two drop in the last month on Stromm.

I can't confirm that they have dropped in the last 30 days, but I can confirm that there are skins (most likely new skins) for sale in the Baz over the past yew weeks.

I have a few that I have purchased recently, and there have been different traders selling new ones - so I'm betting that they are still dropping, just stupid rare. Based upon the price changing very little from trader to trader, I do not think it is someon buying and reselling for profit.... But I have been wrong before.

One dropped for a guildie of mine a few days ago on Vazaelle.

It was in NK off a highland lion.

I have picked up two HQ lion skins passing through NK in two days with my druid. Just nuked them as I was running through. Just sheer luck i'm sure. Also picked up two in about four hours of tracking and playing with my bear pet. They are very slow to drop.

All four made into fleeting quivers which sold right away on Prexus at 2 K each

Last night a guildie had me make them a FQ using a HQ Lion skin they had just looted after spending a week in NK. They definately still drop, but concensus here is that it's less frequent then before.

They're dropping. I was helping a monk one night in NK when I was gathering griff feathers for brewing, and we tried to get him a HQ Lion Skin. Didn't get it that night, but a couple of weeks later, which was maybe a week or so ago, I get a tell from him asking for help again. I couldn't, because my guild and I were doing Ragebringer stuff. But I got a tell a few minutes later saying a ranger had looted one right before he got there.

So they're dropping, but rare. The first night we were after them for at least two or three hours, and not a single one dropped.

As a player coming back to EQ and craft skills from 2001, I did not remember what was in my vault.. I found many HQ cat pelts just stacked in there.

What is the fair market value for them? *i'm on the Veeshan Server*

I know that you can make Reinforced Leather armor from them... but besides the fleeting quivver, what else can you make from them?

                        Thanks

hq cat pelts make tailored quivers. about 20-50pp sometimes. hq lion skin makes fletting. about 2k-4k sometimes.

Fleeting quivers had been one of my main sources of income after spiderling silk drops were nerfed in the Feerrott and I stopped making padding 6 months ago. However, I haven't seen a HQ lion for sale in the bazaar in 6 weeks of checking religiously. While never common, I could always find one or two for sale in the bazaar every few weeks for the previous few months. The only ones being sold now as tokens are from peeps that had some banked long ago and prices have gone from 1500pp to 5k each quiver. Last night I just combined the last two I have been saving and hope to sell for that much.

I also spent a couple hours in NK last night and it seems that the highland lions aren't spawning like they have for the last year or two. Used to be killing griffs of all kinds kept them spawning regularly but after killing the two in the zone when I arrived, could only get one more to spawn in 90 minutes after clearing the zone of griffs, lions and bears. So while the drop rate has always been horrible, 1 in 100 kills according to old EQTrader threads a couple years ago, I think it is the spawn rate that had dried up the availabliitly of these skins to it once was years ago. We enjoyed a couple years of more frequent spawns and now it is painful to see the spawn rate back to what it once was. I am glad to read that they haven't stopped dropping at all.
