  • HIgh Quality Wolf Skins?

Just curious about these. I have never tailored at all, but I assumed that high quality skins were always in high demand.

I have had 2 of them for sale in the bazaar for 5plat, and they have never sold. (I actually thought I was doing a tailor a favor by selling them instead of selling to a vendor or destroying)

So am I mistaken, and should I destroy high quality skins? Is there a post where I can go to so that I know which ones people want, and which ones they do not typically want?

    Thanks all.

    hq pelts

Hq bear and rockhopper pelts are used to made handmade backpacks.
Hq cat pelts are used for tailored quivers.
Hq lion skins are used in fleeting quivers.
Lq bear pelts are used to make 10 slot potion bags.
Most other high quality and medium quality pelts can be reduced to low quality with a skinning knife and turned into leather padding with a silk thread(2 spiderling slik combined). So there is a use for Hq wolf...reduce it to low quality(put it in a tailoring kit twice with a skinning knife) and make leather padding.Sells for 15-25 pp per pad on Zeb server

Really only HQ wolf, cat, lion, and rockhopper hides are usefull to tailors. There are HQ tundra bear hides or kodiak hides, HQ cougarskins things like that that are not used in any tailoring but in one quest or another. Also, it does take a bit for pelts to sell I've noticed. But eventually someone does come along that "needs just that ONE pelt for such-and-such" and you've sold it.

Thanks, I was just curious. That is the type of thing that i would want to keep to help someone out. (I have done several quests where you have to gather up a bunch of junk, and I know it can be a pain)

        Thanks again

Only use a HQ Wolf pelt has is for reinforced leather armor, which is only really something that one would do skill ups in since it's lesser quality than banded, which is available en mass in the bazaar at all times... and I beleive the same classes that can wear reinforced leather can wear banded too... that and wolf skin is only for small classes, so, basically it'd only be used by a small race that was utterly untwinked, and only had skill in tailoring, and wanted to make their own armor.
Not liklely to be a big seller :P

Edit: Actually some classes that can't wear banded can wear reinforced, such as beastlords. Reinforced is still fairly weak armor, the chest peice having only 11 AC. I'm sure that back when only a few people had hit over 100 in tailoring that reinforced leather was a hot item, but considering the cheepness of items in the bazaar these days it's pretty much obsolete as meerly an alternative way to skill up over tailored quivers or Wu's

They are also used in making an Old Alchemy Potion. Think the potion is called Wolve's Blood.

At 5pp each, it WILL eventually sell. But if you have a second and a few extra plat to spend, look for some spiderling silk(or silk thread) and make leather padding to sell. It usually sells faster than the components and depending on your server economy for as much as 50pp each(I never pay more than 10pp personally but I know plenty of people who sell/buy it for more). If you choose to just sell the pelt, it will probably end up going to someone who is just going to turn it into padding anyway, since the only other use is in Reinforced armor. I think I am the only one that uses reinforced for skillups anymore.

Thanks again for the replies. However, I truly thought I was doing someone a favor by selling those skins. (I really am more interested in helping someone than making money on them)

I get really bored doing tradeskills, but with my new comp I may want to try again, the lack of lag would be awfully tempting.

                Thanks

I always sell all my HQ/MQ/LQ pelts within minutes on the 3 servers I dumpster dive stuff for.. and usually 10pp for HQ, 7pp for MQ and 5pp for LQ although I just made those prices up pretending I dont know what theyre for.. smiths buy these in droves for leather padding uses. Also potters can use HQ wolf skins for poison vials and theres a quest outside jaggedpine that i used to do w/all my toons before kunark came out for Wolf-hide boots or cloak or cap or something.. its been a long time since i've done them. And elves can wear small armor and druids also would benefit from reinforced.. but with mudflation etc its improbable that you will sell any.. as I think the last time i sold any reinforced armor was back in 1999 and that was to a friend for cost. If you dont need room on your trader for other stuff leave it on there it will sell.. i'm surprised it hasnt yet.
