  • Cultural VS. Velious

So -- Here I am, hovering around the 240 mark in tailoring, with my GM trophy.

I have been doing Leatherfoot Haversacks, Arctic Wyvern and Solstice robes since 225 (Robes and masks well before that).

At any rate, I know that with a 240 skill, I am actually real close to 250 with my trophy. What is striking me as odd though is the leatherfoot haversacks.

This weekend, I bought Dire wolf furs and and blue diamonds by the boatload. I literally made 73 Haversacks over the weekend without a SINGLE final combine failure. Not one.

I had the good fortune to come across 80+ Wyvern Hides, and decided to give them a go as well. Awful. Simply Awful the success rate on these. Well below 50% (keep in mind, this was during my 225-239 period).

Is this just something to do with the Cultural armor? If so, it seems to me that making attempts on the HQ brute stuff may be more cost efficient for my last 10 points. I have no more furs left, so Gonna be a while til I can forage enough for a few more bags... unless someone has 900+ for sale in bazaar again.

Anyway, I would be curious to see other peoples succeses with cultural tailoring....

    Nope. Just RNG.

I regularly make woodie BD cultural to sell in the bazaar; some days, I can go 10 for 10, some days, I go 1 for 10.

My suggestion for which way to go is whatever way is easiest, cheapest, fastest, funest, etc. of those recipes. I think when I was around 240, I was doing mostly Velious because I could buy components in the bazaar (I wanted tailoring over with at that point).

The cupcake is DONE! 1750!!! And 7 Trophies! And a fishing pole! That summons beer! Woo! And Tarteene, the enchanting gnomish tinkerer of the 247th bolt and one neato Tinkering Trophy

      ...the key here, Haversacks.

I make bags, and I make a lot of them. The RNG really really likes the bags, success rate on those is like nothing I have ever seen. Don't expect the same for the cultural, I've had around 40-50% success rate on those, with bags being closer to 95% success rate. It's a wonderful market IF you can find someone that sells them by the truckload, preferably not priced to expensively. I can find them in bulk at 50pp each, but I refuse to pay that much.

      Good luck.

A friend picked up 700 of them at around 20pp each in baz this weekend. some pretty amazing bargaining on her part, and of Course I was obligated to make her a set of the bags.

The thing is, I am making so much money on those bags it is not funny... I literally made all of the money I spent skilling up back in one weekend, and I was hoping for the same success on HQ stuff.... Oh well
