  • Stupid, stupid question, probably

Ok, so call me behind the times...somehow I got to lvl 60 and never knew some of the "goldmine" places for silks and other tradeskilling components. I'm learning.

For example, after spending as much as 3000p a shot making mithril arrows at 15p a combine, and not getting a single skillup, I have decided to make shadow-tipped arrows instead, now knowing how easy it is to farm the shadows. And what should I discover in this process, but a virtual WEALTH of shade silks dropping right alongside them!

But...my halfling tailor is already up to 122, and cured shade silk armor trivials at 82. She is about to tackle Wu's armor very shortly, and wouldn't it be lovely if there were a shade silk equivalent of Wu's, so that I could get more bang for my buck while farming tradeskill components?

I don't see it mentioned anywhere here on the site, but then, I also don't see a source for Brute and HQ Brute hides listed on the site (I have seen these drop in Dreadlands and FM so far) so there are obviously still some gaps in the database. Is it possible that a shade silk version of Wu's is one of them?

Tailoring is much like smithing in the fact that there are very limited number of different things to skill up on in certain skill gaps. Sorry, but as far as I know, there is no plausible or known recipe that is similar to Wu's for shade silks. You're pretty much stuck with Wu's to 158 and then on whatever floats your boat past that.

I believe warsilik's woods has brutes. There is a cave system that leads to dalnir's crypt with 6 brutes in it. They respawn about every 10 mins or less. I spent about 2 hours there and got 1 hq brute hide. Other brutes wander the zone, but tracking them down was hard to do with all the foliage. It was very boring and I haven't ever gone back.

The Elven Druid cultural equivalent seems to be much more common. They can drop off of level 18 mobs in LOIO (Sabertooth Tigers and Tigresses) much more frequently. In my early 20s I used to make money selling the HQ ones to a druid for 20p a piece (probably a low price but bazaar wasn't an option for me at the time).

As far as we know there isn't a shade silk form of wu's....but I'm not sure if anybody ever experimented with it...I wasn't really much of a tailor when wu's first came out and didn't pay much attention to the tailoring forum then. So I'd suggest that unless someone comes along and says that there really isn't any that you try a few combines and see if anything works.

          tossing out a suggestion....

I believe there is a recipe to make heady paebalas

so maybe if there is a luclin answer to wu's it would take that.

          4 heady paebalas
          shade silk swatch and um

          some mana vial or something...

sorry database down and I'm trying to remember. I thought I stamped wu's out of my mind. (though if there is such a recipe it might or might not use the same mana vial)

Yeah, I am about to try that, just for kicks and giggles.

Lol...an amusing Monday tale on a Thursday: I log on my ranger, with her 188 brewing, to make heady kiolas for my halfling tailor, and then get to the brew barrel, and realize that I cannot, for the life of me, remember the exact recipe for Heady Kiolas, and eqtraders is down. It wasnt pretty. (Ends up, I did remember the recipe...I just didnt remember the bottle!)

i remember the bottle cause i did faydwer shakers. the whole reason to make the kiola was i had the bottles and didn't want to sell to the merchant.

Tried making Wu's substituting shade silk and heady paeala...no joy.

Oh well, was worth a shot. My trader is starting to lose a lot of space courtesy of all those silks, not to mention the lower-quality hides I have acquired hunting for the higher quality ones...

LOL, ok...that is the third time in two days someone has called me "man" or "bro."

What is it about my name that is conveying masculinity to people? I've been playing since January and never had that problem before.

That would be "lady" TYVM, LOL!

Shade Silks make Silk Swatches, and unfortunately, there ain't a darn thing I can do with those post-82. ShadeLING Silks make silk thread. I am saving my shadeling silks to make thread, because I am getting a lot of MQ and LQ hopper hides while farming for superb and flawless, and my guild's smith will need the leather padding.

We are sponsoring one member to GM in each skill, and I am the GM fletcher (well, almost, skill is 219), and my halfling alt is the going to be the GM halfling cultural tailor (so far, skill 151, and getting into the really painful part of tailoring.) This creates a nice system whereby one of us, in the course of skilling up, can practice by making things another of us needs. I am anticipating a shipment of bow cams from our tinkerer sometime very soon...

silk thread WOman. make padding. use it for smithing.

                      k. adjusted. nice policy with guild but my guild is sorat free for all with everyone helping wherre they can. helps a lot actually. really fun too. sorry. missed that you had no ling silk. and as you stated shade silk can not be used to skill up with (disclaimer inc) that we know of, currently, that i have seen here or anywhere else after cured shade silk. though you can help another begining tailor out with it.

oh and the male is used when unsure because men are more important historically or something and men usually get more upset than women about being called the wrong sex so
