  • Velium Pieces

I'm making arctic wyrven masks and currently i am farming CC for the velium peices, but they drop so slowly. And velks is too high lvl for farmig to be a good farming place. BTW im a 63 druid(don't mind my sig)

Is there a better place to find velium ore?

Catin, go to EQTraders main site and in the search window, type "of velium"...this will include blocks, large bricks, small bricks, pieces, etc...most of them when you click will show several locations they can be farmed, such as Tower of Frozen Shadows...my memory's just not good enough to go back and forth for all of 'em.

      velium farming

Currently doing the same thing here and I find that CC is in fast the best place for all types of velium. ToFS doesnt drop enough and only has a few spawns that do drop it, plus you cant go back down floors without exiting the tower making farming there a pain. Velks is a very logical second option though as it does drop a decent amount of velium(roughly the same drop rate from what I can tell). However another thing about velks is the mobs take longer to kill since they are higher level. The best velium dropping ones are back near the castle past the dogs up top. I find velks to be slower for that reason.
Yet its fairly easy to cover the entire orc population in CC as a 62 necro without any problem provided its not taken.

I had very good luck on the wedding floor of ToFS as well. Sometimes CC was too crowded for my taste.

I am not sure that you know this... it is a mistake I made myself as well.... All of the blocks and bricks that you are finding will also yield the small pieces you need. Combine it in a forge with a smithing chisel, and depending on the size of the brick, you will get 2 small pieces of velium or the next size brick down.... eventually it all turns into small pieces

          Good luck!

all you can get from 1 block of velium is 2 small peices. does anyone else feedback that? myabe two smaller bircks or block break down into 1 large and 2 small bricks. i think this is one thing that is just silly.

I agree with you, but it has been that way forever, and I frankly do not have the desire to complain. I can see it getting broken the week after I do complain and having no velium for a month or so

It would be nice and it is also logical that you would get more than 1 brick from a block. However, the way EQ is coded, if I remember right, you can only have 1 of any item type on your cursor at a time. You can have multiple small pieces since a stack is considered one item, but only 1 brick.

Seeing as it takes 3 peices or bricks to make the next size up it would be nice if they broke down into 2. But as stated above I don't care to complain in fear I may not be able to get the velium I need

Well, they could always make a block break down into two small pieces and a large brick. Or A large brick and a small brick Or have each breakdown include a small piece. Like:

Block + Chisel = Large Brick + Small piece
Large Brick + Chisel = Small Brick + Small Piece
Small Brick + Chisel = 2 Small Pieces

That way you could get 4 small pieces out of a block and 3 out of a large brick. It also makes sense, as you'd naturally have some pieces of velium left over after chiseling that block down into a large brick.

Then again, if that's too easy, they could do something like:

Block + Chisel = Large Brick + 2 Velium Shavings
Large Brick + Chisel = Small Brick + 2 Velium Shavings
Small Brick + Chisel = 2 Small Pieces

and then make a recipe for (I can't believe I'm even suggesting this)

3 Velium Shavings + Coldain Velium Temper = Small Piece of Velium

Not that there's anything wrong with the way it works now. I seem to recall a time when there was no conversion at all, so what we've got is certainly better than that. Still, with the amount of time it takes me to farm the three stacks of small pieces that it takes to make one stack of studs, any way to make it speedier would be welcome

This is not true anymore. If you even use mass imbue spells for enchanting metals for Enchanters, you will see 5 items of same thing on the cursor after you cast the spell.

The main benefit of doing your velium farming in CC is that when you get bricks/blocks, you can always run over to the forges in the dorf outpost and break 'em down into small pieces, thus decreasing the weight of all that velium and increasing the space. The bank right there doesn't hurt either.

I tried Velks and Skyshrine and the drop rate was lower than in CC. I haven't tried ToFS because I'm too lazy to go back and get keys for that place again.

ToFS key now goes on your key ring, so if you go back once, you never have to redo keys after that.
