  • Tailoring 158+ // Rockhoppers

What is the buy back price that the NPC's will give when you do the loy ribbons? Is it like JC where u get somewhat less that what you bought for the combines? I am done w/ WU's and need to continue.

Also I was farming rockhoppers in DSP hoping to get a shard. After a while they dissapeared and the red monley goranga mobs pop'ed up. I killed their leader in the cave. Do i have to kill the others do get the rockhoppers to spawn?

Also what other zones to rockhoppers spawn in so i can farm their pets?

The buyback price is abyssmal on ribbons. As you move up to the more expensive ones your loss will become considerable. The cost for the ribbons is around 15 plat for silver, 31 for gold and 105 for platinum. Merchants will buy dyed silver ribbons for around 8 plat, gold for 13 and platinum for... well crud, I don't have any dyed platinum ribbons to check with and I'm not running to Gunthak to buy one I want to say it's about 24 for those though. Seems like I sold back a stack and got something on the order of 400 plat in return.

It's better than nothing, mind you, but not nearly as good as the return on jewelcrafted items (which, from what I recall, is quite close to cost, is it not?)

And if you have access to a chanter who can sit next to you and imbue all the metal bars you use for JC, you can actually make money off it by selling back to vendor. Slow money, but it's money.

Plat is about 23pp. I was hoping someone would buy my Plat+Berry Dye (used for Iksar tailoring) but even at a fraction of the cost to make, they sit unpurchased.

I know this is an efficient way to get to 187, but cheap it ain't, at least compared to pre-158. Maybe compared to the post-187 combines, this is not so bad, but still, it hurts.

100pp per combine? and you make stuff that sells back for (very very poorly). this is the bridge loy was supposed to introduce? i liking ldon more and more. just wish i had that shared bank space. up the buy rate on spider silk to 2pp and make a vendor that carries them as stock at least. you could even make it a spider vendor for flavor but the that would get you to 82 if you brewed and 158 if your an enchanter. tailoring is a horrible still to raise.

sorry that got a little more rant than i wanted but did ornate chain from 115 to 145 farming the fs weapons and converting and they aren't this much trouble. (yeah i know i was an idiot and should have done embroidering needles and saved ore till now and i might be on fine plate. DOH)

i am at 170 tailoring and prolly not going to work on it unless someone gives me amterials to amke armor for them. i'll almost pay someone to give me materials to make the stuff. i'm not paying the prices for the hides or acrylia andcefertainly not farming them. as for what you could make i'd suggest

            runed coldain shawl 162
nightmare silk string 162 if you can hunt/buy it
soft fur padding 176 if you are working on the last shawl
acrylia studded 188 if you are a masochist, like farming, & spend millions of plat
fleeting quiver 222 if you can handle farming still

now i didn't add cultural casue i don't know your race. then again you could jsut do all the PoP/SoV 250 recipes and pray

              Ribbons and hunting

              Greetings,

I used the LoY ribbons when they arrived to ease the pain of farming the supplies and making acrylia studded. I did platinum ribbons only - buy for around 105pp, sell back for around 23pp.

As far as hunting rockhoppers goes, Dawnshroud is probably the easiest place. To get Superb/Flawless hides, the other two places to hunt are Scarlet Desert (some screwy pathing here, so watch yourself) and Mons Letalis. The latter is tricky, unless you use a levitation spell/SoE. Lots of gullies and dropoffs. You WILL also get adds here, so know your way to a zoneline. You best 'fear animal' line spell is also a handy saviour here.

As a final note, if you don't want to make ribbons and can't sell the dye you make in the bazaar, you can make a little profit selling it to vendors. For the cost of a water flask, I sold my excess lichen dyes to vendors for over 7pp each.

              Hope this helps!
