  • Easiest way to 88 skill to make handmade backpacks?

I have been helping my friend camp rockhoppers and I was wondering which is the easiest path to 88 to be able to make handmade backpacks? I currently have my skill at 18 from making Rallic packs and I can use the damaged hopper hides to get to 26. What step should I take from there? Thanks for your time.

there is a whle section on learning tradeskills, and skillup paths that can be accessed from the main page.

from the main page select "learn a skill" in the left side column of links.. thenthe "learn tailoring" link.. and you'll have a bunch of things to choose from that will give you all the knowledge you'll need to hit 88 in no time.

      That's certaintly true.

      patchwork to 26.
      Raw silk to 36
      Studded leather to 56
      Hopper hide to 95

I did a mix of studded and hopper on my cleric through the 50's, but it was all hopper hide armor from 56 to 95.

      Good luck!

Just buy Mandrake roots from Alchemist vendor, think theres one in ShadowHaven. combine 2 and get up to 66 i belive, with boning u can combine the product of the 2 roots to get to upper 70s

cept 2 mandrake roots is 4 pp a combine. doh. that gets expensive quick. better have some money for that. its nothing to much higher levels but even at 37 throwing pp at the problem is rarely an option.

it's rarely wise to use a container for skill ups unless you plan to do it very slowly. Even if you started with no containers, and you sat at the bank, and you have LoY, you could only have 26 successes before all of you regular and shared slots were full and all of you inventory slots as well. And since the odds of your having no containers yet are low, 26 is likley much higher than you could do.

I used the Madrake Root path (and then did picnic baskets with the results) and then went to greyhopper armor, but along the way I started making bags for personal use and occassional resale. I probably got one or two skill ups during that time, but it was never a conscious skill up session.

I wouldn't recommend using backpacks either for skill ups, unless you have no other viable options. The pelts are difficult enough to come by and I only use them now when someone needs a bag made. Using them to try and skill up is not only inefficient (due to lack of space and the limited number you can make before you have to start destroying them, dropping them, or giving them away...which slows you down as well), but also wasteful. Those pelts are better off being used when you're pretty darn sure you're gonna succeed.

i'm doing cured silk mask triv 82 greyhopper mask triv 88 greyhopper boot triv 95 and now on tailored quivers triv 115. quviers sell for a plat and change and i have a ranger alt for a couple. farm a while and do combines sitting beside merchant. 115 should prolly put you at 95% chance on backpacks.

well it does go slow with one open spot to make a quiver equip merchant gear sell equip skillup gear and do another combine but pp is always better than no pp so i can live with it. actually auction for some. many ppl want them more than normal quivers. i know i did but i make my own.

finished up to 115 with quivers. just sat in pok auctioning them. got 10pp each pretty easy. gave some away to the non-twink newbie woodelves in kelethin too. actually might have broke even on this step.

You are more patient than I.

I did make a nice amount of change on both the rockhopper armor and the Wu's skill-up stuff, though, slowly selling it with my bazaar alt. Just yesterday, though, i found a few dozen leftover mantles I need to start bleeding into the economy.

And (on a related fletchig topic) I have something like 50 Rough Sedgewood Compound Bows which my current rate of selling 2 per week will not make much of a dent in -- I may need to dump those on Merchant Tekrama where they will poof forever.

I guess I just don't have the patience to sell the old fashioned way, hawking my wares actively. I would have been a bad trader in the old EC tunnel days.
