Good thing Im an inkie then, no lube for me heh.
But that does mean I need ashweed, and since my previous post, ive been digging a lot. People HATE trying to get ashweed. Apparently quite rare since it only drops on those three gobbies.
No problem if all you need is a few to make robes with, but to skill up on? yikes!
Think ill stick with trying to get clovers.

      Maybe im missing something.
silver/gold grey ribbons require cursed clover of viesa (or so) which is afaik the only ingredient which is not only forageable but also drops off those succulents in OT.

        Not SOLELY forages

All of the foraged items AFAIK are also dropped. Doesn't mean the drop rate's common, but we're used to that being tailors aren't we??

Plains Roots (human): Beetles in NK, uncommon
Plant Shoots (human): Potameids in JP (rarer than the meat they drop which requires plant shoots to be cooked. We love irony)
Lichenclover (high elf): I've seen it of all places in swamp of no hope (probably not intentional) but I hear it also drops in FV/DL/etc.
Sylvan Berries (high elf): Brownies in LF (saw one drop there)
        Cursed Clover (Teir`Dal): Overthere Succulents.
Ashweed (Teir`Dal): Goblins and Imps in Lavastorm
Seahorse Roe (Erudite): Spiders and Snakes in Erud's Crossing (hint: go down into the bottom of the volcano pit and cast some AE spells if you don't see any)
Bamboo Shoot (Erudite): Panda (Cubs?) in Stonebrunt (rare!)
Steamfont Spring Water (gnome): kobolds in steamfont (common!)
Cauldron Prawns (gnome): rare off goblins in Dagnor's
honey berry (iksar): I hear dreadlands off the giants.
maneater bud (iksar): maneating plants (that model) in Swamp of No Hope

This is of course, reposted from other threads on the site and some of my own knowledge.

Foragers of course can forage WHILE they kill, so it's not exactly fair, but it's still better than ground spawn yew leaves. Ugh.

          Understatement of the day.
I think I've mentioned my dislike of bamboo shoots once or twice in serverwide chat....

How strange! The roots are actually foraged in West Commonlands...not the karanas. So we can't kill and forage at the same time, but if they do indeed drop in NK I'll be heading there. The forages in WC are rare. As in maybe 1 or 2 an hour if you are very lucky.

Edit: They do indeed drop in NK 2 roots from about 35 beetles. Not bad at all.

I remember back when honey berry was a common forage in DL. I'd get about a stack in an hour. This was of course back when they were just a food source and not used in any recipes.

Naturally, when they made it part of a tailoring recipe, the forage rate dropped like a ton of bricks thrown over the roof of the Empire State Building...but they did make it drop off the drolvargs as well, so I guess that's something...

AFAIK, the devs made all the foraged items drop off mobs as well so that non-foragers wouldn't have to go broke trying to buy all the stuff from foragers.

I heard something once about a cap of 3 million, but this is unconfirmed and may just be a rumor that got circulated a while back.

ribbon combines are not racial restricted

For those complaining about the availability of dye components for your race, just make ribbons for a different race. You're most likely going to be making Platinum ribbons (for skilling from 167 to 187). And platinum ribbons aren't really going to be used for skilling up much later on since the research components used with them are much more rare/expensive and the robes from the easier gold ribbons can get you to 242 & >250.

I went to steamfont and started killing kobolds. They drop springwater like crazy. After about 1/2 hour, a level 5 newb came in the zone, and I hired them to run around and loot the corpses. They kept all the silver and copper (which would get destroyed by me) and gave me all the springwater at the end. I was doing this with my ranger so I was foraging while killing. I actually got more springwater from killing than I did from foraging.

Oh, also, the ribbons can even be made by races that don't have int classes available to them (my troll has made ribbons).

makeing ribbons is way too expensive if you can't make the robes. spend a few hundread plat per attempt its cheaper to farm for acrylia armor
