  • New 250 Tailor on E'ci

Hit 250 this morning, let out a little cheer, and swore not to look at a tailoring kit for at least, oh, a few days anyway...

I started out keeping track of combines per point, etc., and kept going with that through about 205, which is when I stopped doing Solstice Robes. From 162 to 205 (almost entirely solstice robes), I did 855 combines for 43 points, at a cost of about 85 pp per combine (including the average cost of about 500pp per success in about 1 in 20 attempts). Total cost 162 to 205 was about 73kpp. This was back when solstice robes were actually selling for a non-negligible amount, so I recouped some of that on robe sales; I'd estimate that I was out about 40k net.

After 205, almost all of my skillups were on Arctic Wyvern armor, with the exception of 242-243 (on two consecutive Robe of Tempest combines) and 246-247 (on Cobalt Drake). Attempted several other things (lots of low-level LoY robes, Tigeraptor, Black/Haze Panther, a few Flawless Rockhopper), but zero skillups on all of them.

My skillup rate overall from 205 to 250 was a pretty consistent 1 in 20 or so on the Arctic Wyvern (though I don't have exact numbers), so I'd estimate about 850-900 attempts there at a cost ranging from 150pp (when I was fishing my own cod, making coldain velium tempers, and being careful with the prices I bought the other components at) to 300pp (near the end when I was buying cod and vendor-sold CVTs and willing to spend more on the other components), with the average probably between 225 and 250 each. So a total approximate expenditure on arctic wyvern of a bit over 200k, with essentially zero sellback.

Add in about 200 various low level LoY robes, at an average cost of about 50pp each (so 10k more), and a small number of various other combines, and I'd say 162 to 250 cost me, in round numbers, around a quarter of a million plat.

Ouch. I never added that up before...

Thanks are due for the periodic advice and occasional encouragement I got from this site and these boards.

    Three down, four to go...

Personally, I do not keep track of plat, gold, silver or coppers when doing Tradeskills - only because I'd be crying myself to sleep daily. Though it is always a good idea to keep a general or mental list of what is being bought, sold, etc.

    Congratulations on hitting 250!

Congrats! And the pricing information was very useful, if scary.
