Word from the Devs is that since LoY was the Tailoring Expansion, then this time, Smiths get all the love.

It would seem so...
Just went through the database thread with postings of new things to make and their trivials... not one tailoring one....
not even one....
Oh well... did three stacks worth of tailored quivers and got me from 88 - 115..... off to Wu's.... *shudder*

Heh, my wood elf druid tailor is currently around 163 from doing the LoY ribbons after Wu's pants. I am a little stuck right now, was hoping there would be another alternative than acrylia, since buying all the components is expensive as heck. Farming them isn't much easier, since stuff is always camped.

LoY was the tailoring expansion? Maybe if your race produces int casters. I like the LDoN recipees alot better, at least their not racialy restricted. (yes I know you can do ribbons to 168 if your willing to spend alot of plat on ribbons, but I think its cheeper to make solstice robes.)
Ah well, maybe next time we'll all get something new to play with.Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

I am VERY dissapointed
As a GM tailor, I am always looking for new things to make.
SOE made it nearly impossible for a non-uber tailor to do any tailoring past rockhoppers --how nice of them.
I had huge plans of finally getting something new to make, and here I am stuck with not a single tailoring recipe from this new expansion. Dissapointed to say the least, they made such a huge deal regarding new tradeskills recipes...

Well, I'm not sure how you are defining uber, but you might try othmir. Druid, Wizard, Necromancer, Mage, Shaman, Bard...any of those classes and probably others can kill othmir warriors solo at lvl 60 without any AA and without any good gear...maybe I've grown conceited, but I wouldnt consider someone with that level/aa/gear to be "uber".SOE made it nearly impossible for a non-uber tailor to do any tailoring past rockhoppers
And thats a recipie that can take you to 250 skill.
Wyverns are even easier but the recipie is harder.
Velium Hounds too if you can track

There was rumours of one new tailoring recipe in LDoN - some sort of backpack made from the lemming fur in Miragul's.Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

I have told you all I know, unfortunately.

It's not impossible.. just slow. I'm no where near uber, but my tailoring sits at 249 (yeh, i'm invited to too many adventures to farm fish for those cod /sigh). Yes, it's been a long time coming, but my motto is: it's not what you achieve, it's who you achieve it with.
I have been blessed with a guild that is filled with good people. We have a very good active tradeskill core as well... We've had a smith and a fletcher both hit 250 this week alone... and no, we're not doing aid gimmel. We may never do aid gimmel, but we're havign a whole heck of a lot of fun not doign it.
The general rule of thumb in the guild is.. if it has "this item can be used for tradeskills" tag.. then someone will need it, and everything is saved. We work to make everyone better, not just ourselves.. and that is passed to everyone. If you're in a guild like this, tradeskilling is much easier., if not, yes, tailoring can be the devil and take a long, long time... but it's doable.
Past 158, wyvern hide is the way to go as a basis. It's relatively easy compaired to all the other veliuos stuff, and less time consuming than acrylia (in my opinion). If you have a ton of plat, ribbons are an option (i've never had a ton of plat, so th only ribbons i have made, i've used). The fact that each caster producing race has an additional 6 combines really doesn't detract from tailroing for other people, as other races (read as: wood elves), have had "extra" recipes for quite a while.
If you're guild is doing ToV, then tigerraptor becomes easy. They're lower level than wyverns, and no one (in their right mind) hunts any length of time in Wakening (note: "in their right mind" automatically excludes dark elves, as it's a racial trait).
Tailoring does not have to be about paying some "red to a 60" farmers price in the bazaar. It does take plat anyway you look at it (personally, i'd love to meet whoever first combined Coldain Velium Tempers in a dark qeynos ally somenight... we'd see how good a chanter is at melee... i bet it was one of my guilds paladins, he's been after me since that whole "size of his horse (read: wee little pony) comment). It is long, slow, tedious, and sometimes mind numbingly boring, but.. it can be done. I know, i've done it.
If you're not a level 65 uber tradeskiller wannabe, with more plat than common sense.. Tailoring is gut check time, and will leave with you a sense of pride.

i see skilling up on pp thread about like skilling up on pure velium brs from the aid grimmel quest. sure its all bought items but its 3 bars of velium and the result is nodrop. you could skill up that way but you have way more money than i do. am dreading when i half to get jc that high. fortunately gold gets you quite a ways.
