Simple actually.. the tae ew stuff was supposed to be RARE.... oddly, other than things only requiring blood, it is. For them to up the rate on other drops will mean that in 3-4 months, ALL of the items from the zone will be worthless because of a flooded market.
A good example is the Blood itself, it was rare to begin with I thought ? Then the drops were tweaked, and within a few months the market for those items nosedived.
Exactly the same thing will happen with the Hides. And it will destroy the Halfling bag market as well if it ever did.
After the fist CT revamp aye, the blood was as rare as the rest of it. When they increased the drop rates on blood smiths everywhere rejoiced...until folks found out that it was common enough to skill up on if you could get enough distilled mana. And thats from just the entrance mobs...go spend a few hours in 4c and it really did drop like candy. Thats why you can now buy one of the best droppable shields in the game for as low as 2k on some servers. Bleh.
There's a fine line between being rare and entering a server at the rate of 1-2 per months.
They are a drop from the zone that can be used for multiple recipes, there's no reason that the FT boots drop more commonly, for example. Or the crystallized acid bracr.
To borrow an example from the blacksmiths, when an item, such as the pristine scales, drops so slowly that after spending an entire levels there you still don't have enough to make a single breastplate, it might be time to thing about upping the droprate a little.
OK, what I found out last night. Went for 2 hours after a raid to check out what was changed.
Went from zone in to old "silvered" temple. Group was 3 monks, 1 cleric, 1 druid. We could keep the temple mostly cleared before respawn.
We got, over 2 h, about 15 bloods and 1 hide. Our targets were the brown lizards of the temple as it has always been a rumor that hides drop more frequently (or only) from browns.
Bloods were spread both on green, brown and oddly enough, raptor. Our single hide came from a green lizard on our way to temple.
Still a rare drop. On the other hand, combined with my other hide, I now have a new backpack.
Spent a few hours in CT a couple of days after the patch and saw no difference in drop rates, the blood still drops reasonably frequently and no hides dropped at all. Whatever changes they made to CT either affected mostly the ring events or were very minor - the only difference I saw is that lizards are now totally immune to fire based spells instead of just fairly resistant.
How much do yall payfor Flawless and Pristine scales, i just found 1 flawlesa nd 3 pristine in my bank from about a year ago of mad farming! Funny tho back then i got zero blood!
I paid 8k for one Flawless Hide, and had another drop when I was duoing with someone in there hehe. Luckily I won the roll too I also paid 1k for a single pristine Tae Ew Scale that I found in the Bazaar.
Now I just need to get my Tailoring up Stuck at 196 for a while now heh.
