  • Haze Panther

Hey everyone, im a 42 rogue on Tallon Zek and I am wondering what the success rate on haze panther items are. I am also wondering if anyone on tallon zek would be interested in creating the items for me if I farm all of the stuff. Im gonna start a trade skill some time, probably tailoring but I dont have the money to do it atm.

In my experience, none of the Velious armors are worth making any more, not even the haze panther.

I'm 250 tailoring, 305 wisdom, with a set of shears I can equip (though I don't think there is any reason to with 250 tailoring--I know some people believe it still helps lower your failure rate), and my success rate on haze panther is right around 50%, maybe a bit higher. Admittedly, with only perhaps 20-30 combines, that's not enough for statistical normalizing, but its enough to tell me the stuff has a trivial well above 250, and given how expensive it is to make, and that nobody buys it once I've put it in the bazaar, I've quit making it.

I still have several pieces sitting on a mule in Bazaar on Bertox: a tunic, couple of cloaks, two or three other pieces. I've marked them down repeatedly in the past 3 weeks, and they still are sitting there. Others in bazaar (I check my prices against others with same item) are all priced significantly higher than I am at this point (I think tunic is currently set at 6800pp), and yet none of it sells.

I've quit making Velious except as special order. At this point, I'm concentrating on elemental armors, and even those don't sell for nearly what they should in comparison to items like ornate. I think people just don't know about them, though--nobody does a search for Earthweave, cause they've never heard of it.

Sorry I'm not on your server, or I'd be happy to make you the armor.

And please use the marketplace forums to find a seller of these items, not this forum. I'm only not locking this due to the other question asked.

I wasnt asking to buy the item, I was asking if someone could make it if I farmed the items needed. Secondly, I had no idea the fail rate was that bad on those... I really like the stats on them. For a pvp rogue is there any better tailored items for me?

A 250 tailor should have a pretty good success rate and I agree, the stats are not bad at all, especially for your level.

Caveat: unless you are super lucky, give up on this idea. Haze panthers are ghosts - I spent 3 contiguous nights killing every friggin' black panther in WL to pop haze panthers - I got 1 haze hide. ONE! And with the other wandering evil mobs in WL, you'll get smooshed.

I wish haze panthers were more common because the stats on the haze gear would be great for lower level rogues, but they are so not worth the effort of farming for the hides.

            Haze Panthers in WL

I have done my share of hunting for Haze Panthers in Wakening Lands. I heard that alot of the mobs in WL are on the same spawn table so whenever I went looking for them or trying to get them to attack me and come vis, I didn't just spend time killing the Black Panthers. Even with killing some of the Hulgresh's and Mercenary's, the Haze Panthers were still a rare spawn. And when I was able to get one to attack me, the drop rate of the Haze Panther Skins were even worse.

They are not worth the trouble for their trivial rate. There are alot better items out there that are easier to get, whether by killing a named mob and looting or by having something made with a tradeskill.

I have not done much exping or camping for items since I have decided to get to 250 Tailoring. I farm all of the components or have friends do the foraging/enchanting for me which has left me limited time to exp/camp. Even so, most of the items I wear (Hate Armor/Seblis Armor or something equivalent) I have found only one piece of Haze Panther Armor that's better than what I wear. That being the Haze Panther Cloak and it's only because it is 1 AC better that I consider it a better item.

Once I found out that the Cloak was the only item better than the items I already have, I gave up on trying to get the skins. I have 3 Haze Panther skins to try to get the Cloak made. Think hard if you want your Haze Panther Armor. It's a rare thing, and the Yew Leaves don't make it any easier.

#1 Don't argue with the mods. You'll lose

#2 Buying and/or soliciting others to make items is what these were made for.

#3 Getting the skill to make Haze Panther is not easy and not cheap and the odds of you finding someone to make it just out of the kindness of their heart with no payment is very rare.
