  • Deluxe sewing kits?

Yeah, yeah, I know. They were removed from vendors, so the only ones in the game are those purchased before they were removed.

But...What if I play on a server that might not have them removed from the vendors yet? A pre-LoY (Yep, that's pre-LoY) server.

Which vendors used to sell the deluxe sewing kits?

Likewise, is Acrylia studded/reinforced my only hope for skill-ups from 158->200+ in a pre-LoY world?

    Thanks,

Unless you are playing on some sort of Non-Sony Server... you are SOL. All Servers are updated at the same time. They ALL have the same software. Same Vendors, same Standard Stuff.

And from what I remember, the deluxe sewing kits were removed from the game very soon after Velious came out and long before Luclin was released.

The deluxe sewing kits are no longer available on any server, pre-LoY or not.

There are Looms in different towns that allow you to combine items that require more than 8 items in your sewing kit. Click on the edge of the Loom to open it up. Loom locations are listed in the Trade Supplies list, or you can do a search for Loom and find the list of locations very easily this way.

The Al'Kabor (Mac-only) server is run by SOE, with support provided by Westlake Interactive. The server source was branched at a pre-LoY, post-Luclin, post-Velious point.

Since the source was branched, we might still have deluxe sewing kits available, thus my question as to which vendors carried them before.

We still have certain things that were 'nerfed' on the PC-side (like aqua gobs still pay out big for us), and we still have a number of bugs (like the Hollowshade Moor War script not working correctly) that have been fixed on the PC side.

For us tailors, that means we have no ribbon recipes for skill ups beyond 158, thus my question on upping my skill without ribbons.

The pattern merchant in the little house just across the zone line from Freeport into North Ro carried them, if I remember correctly.

(Though I have a hard time remembering what happen in RL over a weekend, let alone what happened in a game two years ago - so could be totally wrong.)

              Yup you got it right.

In the Inn in NRo, after zoning from Freeport, you go in the door and look left. He'll have the kits IF they are still available there. I wish I could remember his name though. :/

                Spoolie Gee !

Man, that takes me back. Spoolie was the merchant I had to go to in my early days tailoring in Norrath, since the world was a different place for dark elves in '99. /laughs

Good ol' Spoolie.. wonder what he's up to these days.

All of the Large Sewing kit vendors sold the 10 slot kits. The original 8 slot kits were made into 10 slot kits after the addition of the Wu's armors. After a lot of screaming and yelling by tradeskillers that sold 10 slot backpacks the existing kits were changed from "Large Sewing Kit" to "Deluxe Sewing Kit" and merchants went back to selling the original 8 slot kits. They left the 10 slot kits in game instead of retro'ing them most likely so they wouldn't have to deal with the thousands of lost item petitions they would get when those that had items in the 9th and 10th slots poofed, so they just left them as is. I think I have about 100 of them across all my mules on both accounts. I remember when they were changed I filled up nearly every mules bank with them as well as their carried inventory.

Yeah, Spoolie Gee was where I originally got mine as well. But if your server is post Luclin, I can guarantee you the deluxe kits are gone. They were removed waaaay prior to Luclin.

They were also once sold by one of the two female barbarian merchants standing near the fire in Everfrost, close to the entrance to Halas. I remember fondly making the dangerous trip from Qeynos to Halas to buy one when I first started playing. Still have it, too.

Which I don't get. We still have deluxe toolboxes which I am sure we have ALL used to fill up our banks with. So why keep the deluxe sewing kits out of the game? That just seems dumb to me and all those people who whined about their 10 slot backpacks not selling are still SOL because of the toolboxes and also because haffer sacks have basically made them obsolete.

Yes, Haversacks will make the 10 slot Backpacks obsolete or even the Toolboxes was doing that way back when. When Luclin came out the market for Backpacks was probably ruined because it probably became flooded with them when it was found that HQ Rockhopper Pelts could make 10 slot Backpacks and they drop quite frequently in different zones. So if Verant were to bring back the Deluxe Sewing Kit, as an item to sell, noone would be complaining anymore.
