  • Alternate sources for ribbon dye components?

Recently got up to 182 using loy ribbons since I heard the skill up:combine ratio was really good (and it was =p) ... to get to that skill I used what ever I could buy in the bazaar + steamfront dyes since I found out you can get the spring water from the kobalds in steamfront mtns. so farming it was a piece of cake.

Was wondering now if there are alternatives to foraging for some of the components for the dyes that would be used to get 187.

    Am looking for:
    Plant shoot
    Cauldron prawn
    Lichenclover
    Ashweed
    Bamboshoots

I don't mind running around killing greenies, but sitting in one spot foraging is just too mind numbing.

Ashweed and cauldron prawns will probably be your best bets - Ashweed comes from (some) goblins and imps in Lavastorm, prawns are from aqua goblins in Dagnor's Cauldron.

    Do not do bamboo shoots.

Lichenclover drops as commonly off the level 30ish drolvargs in Firona Vie as the spring water does from the puppies in Steamfont. Higher level mobs, obviously, but you also need alot less of them...couple hours in FV got me more than I needed to get from 182-187, and even had about half a stack of dyes to sell in the bazaar to help defray the cost of all those plat ribbons...

DO NOT i repeat DO NOT DO ASHWEED

only drops off 3 goblins in lavastorm (by the erudite necro camp near najena who also spawns in one of the 3 spots)

Supposedly it also drops off imps (which are rare and wander)

sure you can forrage it but if your looking for quantity you should sooner get a total frontal labotomy than try to farm ashweed by killing things :P

Cauldron prawns are way more common.

As for others i think lichen clover would be your best bet

I know you didn't list it but Cursed Clover of Viesars drop in The Overthere off the various Cacti. Dunno if it would be worth it to you but just to throw another possible drop in there for you.

What do you mean, do not do bamboo shoots? After moving about 4 stacks of bamboo dye in one week, I've had the same 2 stacks sitting on trader for a looong time. Finally it's down to just under one.

Bamboo was never hard to come by for me, but then a friend and i spent some time lvling in SBM (he moreso than me, he would hand me about 12 or 16 bamboo whenever he saw me). I think the trick is to kill pandas. Not sure.

But Ashweed... /twich. don't do Ashweed.

I had copious amounts of those little cauldron prawn, resulting from a druid bound in kelethin and leveling in unrest, and needing to run the whole way there all the time. Too bad I didn't know to save it at the time. I suggest making appearances in UR and notifying the noobs that you will pay like 1p per prawn and to please save them for you. (While you're at it, teach em how to link their forage key to their movement button ^_^. Hey, everyone is a true noob at some point.)

Plant shoots are used for too many things and rare enough as is. Don't fight the bakers in trying to get these for tailoring skillups.

So, with bamboo being iffy and Ashweed being a big nono, lichenclover being frequently all but unheard of, looks like your best bet is the cauldron prawn. Unfortnately, the only zone where this comes from is more than mind numblingly dull to sit-and-forage in.

            Good luck with skillups!

                Thanks =)

finished up ribbons today, best bets turned out to be the clovers from FV and plants shoots from the bazaar =p

I'd never go try for plant shoots again b/c I really don't like that zone but seems ppl like foraging there b/c there was a bunch for sale across a couple of vendors.

For actual farming, clovers from the dogs definately seemed to be the way to go (tried ashweed and prawn as well) for 182+ ribbon dyes ... To the east there was an area with a small building with static dogs then a field of wonderers to the NE and then a tunnel with a load of more static spawns and at the other end another building with a bunch of dogs wondering around. AEing there got me a bunch fairly quick.... would definately recommend that for anyone else looking to up their skill once they finished up with steam front dyes.

Ohhhh, see I don't know these things I'm not planning to skill on ribbons and haven't gotten that far in my robe making. :P

                  NM then. I'm an idiot.

Jaggedpine Forest is a wonderful exp zone for druids and rangers. Druids and rangers tend to forage compulsively. Hence, lots of plant shoots in the baz

Plant Shoots drop from the potameid thingies.

To complete your list, you were missing Maneater Bud from the flower mobs in Swamp of No Hope.

Another mob to hunt.... Orcs in Lessor Faydard drop the Sylvan Berries... I know not this level but sence we are listing ribbons stuff why not ...

The Orc Chief drops about one a pop on average. Been there for a few days gathering them to go from 158 and up... at 160 and climing atm

                            Eh...

Seahorse Roe was discussed extensively in the past in these forums. Its foraged in Erud's Crossing, and you can get it from killing spiders (the kitties will agro if you do this nearby them) and snakes. Pretty much all of the roaming mobs (with the exception of the cats) are on the same spawn table, but you should be careful if you AE as there is a static high level Erudite that sits inside the caldera of the volcano.
