Shadowscream skillsups not working for me

Did 94 combines at 188 skill and no skill ups, did around 75 other day and nothing too, is this way normal, i see all others here getting one point after 40 or so combines, maybe just major bad luck here, thanks for replying if u do new to the boards. One upset mage here

Sadly, it's not all that uncommon to go that long without a skill up.

I myself am over 300 attempts at 201 skill. :x

188 through 220'ish or so seem to be major hell levels in all tradeskills.

Some people get lucky and plow through them, others, like you and me, get smashed into a brick wall at full speed.

Averaged about one skillup per 20 combines, then around 217 I got 160 combines for nothing. Suck it up and go at it again ... and again ... and again :?

My int is 293, forgot to get c3 but still really high, my str is laughable as a high elf mage its like 100 lol, thanks for replying, though maybe it was only me having these probs.

you might wanna seek out a shammy and get a str buff before ya continue on. I persoanly allways hang out close to an arena so I can duel and get a hit of primal

Quite common, which is why I'm working on sickles to see how they turn out, hehe.

Doing sickles was far, far faster for me. I sold them for generally 1k and up, so eventually it didn't really even cost much to make them, since I got a lot of my money back as I was skilling up.

Depends on your server whether that will work for you on the money side. Some servers have sickles selling for 500pp, and some for 1500 still.

But for speed, even though I imbued the emeralds myself with my druid, it was still far faster to get some combines together doing sickles than it was to do all that camping for shadowscream -- and with a 60 monk hasted by my 60+ shaman(wasn't 65 then) with his 58 warrior pet dog, I cleared huge swaths of the HSM islands very quickly. And whatever you get from HSM, you need twice as many swirling shadows. :P DOing shadowscream is just a time-consuming thing in the extreme. And that's just if you have nobody else in HSM competing with you for the mobs, or in Twilight or wherever competing with you for the shadows.

The lucky few may be able to AE blast the islands or get friends or hire people to do it, but for the rest of us, uggh...what a time destroy shadowscream is.

Sickles are definitely worth considering if you can possibly afford it -- whether you have the bucks straight out or can slowly sell enough sickles to make it more or less not that expensive a thing to do over time.

I hear u there, i am finding that wolve drops are rarer than owl too, at least on tribunal sigh, i dont have major supply of funds, under 5k or so, so would be really tough doing sickles lol.
Guess i stick it out and hope for the best, 195 skill and climbing yay.

I think I got very lucky today. I did 40 Shadowscream combines and got 6 skill ups. I felt very fortunate, as prior to this my skill as pretty much crept along with hundreds of Sickle combines with almost no skill. Current skill was 230 to start and finished at 236. Probably will do a combination of SS, Sickles, and Ogre cultural to 250 at this point...if ogre cultural goes to 242 - which I can't seem to confirm.

Yeah just bad luck. Went through 280 fletching combines the other day with out a skill up, then gat 2 in a row. Just luck.

I feel very sorry for you.

I did my first post-188 combines today.

After exactly 128 Shadowscream Bracer combines, I was at skill 198. I'm of course very happy with the results.
