For all of you who have used Myronns guild to smithing it says the easist Zone essence to use in the making of racial needles if the faydark essence. I have found that the Fetid essence is a whole lot easer to make. If you have PoP expansion just zone into The PoK and there is a merchant selling fishing grubs for 3 cp. I found this was a whole lot easier then going into Gfay and auctioning to buy cinnamin sticks and checking every merchant in felewithe and kelethin. Just thought id post this

Yes, it is true, fetid essense is easier to make than faydark essence.
Just one problem with your theory: you cannot use fetid essence to make racial needles.

I personally prefer making clockwork needles.
There's no-one selling cinnamon in the bazaar in VS so sitting myself down in Akanon with my rod and a six pack seemed a much more sensible way for a non-foraging dwarfGrolber - Cavalier of Brell on Venril Sathir

I can't speak about the fish in Erud's Crossing, but the Clockwork Koi from Ak'Anon are REALLY easy and convenient (if you don't have the plat to drop in the bazaar for forged items). Coming out of the entrance tunnel and facing the waterfall, turn left and follow the walkway to the first building. There is a dock near it. The merchant there sells poles and bait If you stand in the right place (not real hard to), you can fish till you are full up with junk or out of bait and then turn a little bit and buy/sell from the merchant without having to move.
I spent about 8 hours standing in one place fishing away till I got 9 stacks of Koi (started with a skill slightly above 100). After selling off the junk I gathered, making the needles and selling them back to the merchant; I ended about 400 plat ahead of where I started.Morani

Guess I lucked out. When I got to where embroidery needles trivialed out and made cultural, went to bazaar and someone had 40 cinn sticks at 1pp each. With my lucky success rate (only faild on like 3 or 4 out of 37) I ended up with more PP and a skill of 132 than what I started with. I know I could have made alot more selling to players, but didn't have the room for 30+ needles so I dumped them to a merchant.

The barren flounder fished in Erud's Crossing are pretty easy to get with a high fishing skill. The barren flounder are used to make Erud's Essence for the Erud needle.
With a fishing skill of 190ish, pole mod of 3%, bait mod of 2%, I was able to catch 20-25 barren flounders for every 100 pieces of bait used.
I skill have many stacks of these founders on an alt in the hopes that VI will see the error of it's ways in it's all or nothing attitude (that's a reference to the cultural needle nerf). Yes, the npc merchants paid too much for the needles, but to go from 9.5 pp per needle to nothing was a bit extreme...
I'm not holding my breath....

rod and bait mods dont stack. its the pole. dont use pricer bait. also no stats are used for ammo slot anyway. not sure where to put bait to get the skill mod out of it but i have the companion sow not worried.
