Coldain Smithy hammer?

I hate to be annoying but i can't find it on tradesupplies or any old posts. Anyone know where this is? or if it is the same as VELIUM smithy hammer? pls help thx!

I think you need the velium smithy hammer from Thurgadin.

Coldain smithing Hammer is gotten from 4th step of the coldain ring quests in Eastern Wastelands.

This is the fourth Garadain Quest. He wants you to get him a hammer to smith the knife you just got for him. He gives you a note to give to Tain Frostbite, however, you really want to give it to Tain Hammerfrost.

If you head straight out from the dragon bone bridge in the eastern wastes...you will very soon (after the first hill) come to a small dwarven cleric named Tain.

Giving him the note does not do much, but if you hail him, he'll mention that he was ambushed by frost giants and he desperately needs [help].

If you say "I will help you" he sits down (I think he actually despawns and despawns immediately, which may be important) and says "they will be here soon! Kill Grhek and give me his vial".

4 Frost giants, and one named "Ghrek Squatnot" spawn not too far and run up to kill the dwarf. They are all blue to a 56.

If you can kill the named Giant, you can loot a "Frozen Elixir."

If the dwarf despawns and respawns before you can give him the vial, you get nothing. If you give the vial to him before he despawns (or perhaps after triggering him again) he gives you a Coldain Smithing Hammer, a no drop lore item with no stats. Take that back to Garadain along with your gold ring and he will give you the platinum ring.

Aavar you are correct however if the person who posted is looking to work Velium into sheets or smith Velium then they want the Velium smithing hammer that is store bought in Thurg.

and if theyre doing the jc step of the aid grimel quest then they need the coldain hammer from tain. since they already checked the site, they probably heard it was a coldain hammer and not a velium one for that.

And remember, if you ARE getting it for the JC part of the Aid quest, remember it ISN'T no drop, so even if you are KoS to coldain (like I am) you can get it.

Took me some time to notice this, but I'm not always the quickest on the uptake..

Can you just kill him for it or do you need to find someone that's done the quest and still has their hammer around?

Easier than that. At KoS you can still hail him and say the line to start the quest, kill the giants, give the blue vial to someone who has good faction, he/she gets the hammer and hands it to ya.

Okay, now I'm confused. I looked up "Folded Sheet Of Velium" in the new database and it gave recipes that used the velium smithy hammer or a plain old regular smithy hammer.

If your looking for the coldain hammer for the aid gimmel quest you don't need to worry about the rest of the ring quest. Just find the guy, say i will help, kill the giants and give him the frozen elixer. For anyone up to the point of being able to do the aid gimel quest this should be pretty trivial. I played my 65 shaman and my room mates warrior and killed all of the giants easily with out even bothering to even really root park or anything. Infact my pet practically soloed on of the giants with just one quiesence on him.

That is correct. You can make Folded Sheets of Velium with both hammers.
