  • Clockwork Miner (Sharpening Stones)

    Hiyas all...

According to the smithing list here on eqtraders, the Clockwork Miner are supposed to sell sharpening stones. From the /loc listed I understand he should be in the palace somewhere.

But I cant find the little guy. I've been all over Ak'anon and he seems to be dismantled and put in boxes

No other Clockwork selling smithing supplies seems to sell the stones.

So are sharpening stones not available in my nice little city anymore?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Are you looking for a vendor with a specific name, and unable to find him, or just not able to find any vendor around the listed location selling the sharpening stones?

The reason I ask, vendors have a limited supply of sharpening stones. Once they have all been purchased, there are no more available until the server is reset (ie patch day). You will run across the same issue with many of the vendors who sell High Quality Ore later in your career!

I just checked on Venril Sathir and the clockwork miner is still there ok.
      Loc is +760, -150, -14 <-- note vertical component !

He's a level up from the entrance - up a ramp. If he's definately not there, then petition, as he may have got lost somewhere and a GM or guide should reset him. Failing that, there's another vendor who sells them in Steamfont Mountains - Godbin Strumharp in the middle windmill at +45, -615 should be able to help you.

vendors have a limited supply of sharpening stones

Never seen this in all the sharpening I've done through the last 2 years - the HQ ore re-stock is well known, but sharpening stones ???

Yes, they do. Around 32,768 (the highest possible integer, iirc). <img src=http://www.boomspeed.com/sinuuyanea/pichuchaorazz.gif alt="Now, what are the chances those 32k stones are going to get used before the zone crashes or the server patches? Right.">

LOL well perhaps I'm mistaken on that one, since I got the information second hand.

Only assuming that you're using a signed integer and that your integer size is based on a word (two bytes). If it's unsigned then it would be (2^32)-1 i.e. 0-65535, or maybe it's a short integer using only one byte in which case your upper limit is either 127 or 255 depending on signed or unsigned...

Darn!, for a while I'd forgotten how big a computer geek I was ops:

Considering the Vendor system is pretty much unchanged since day 1, and they actually optomised the code back then, it's probably a regular integer...
