Ok Im guilty on all accounts. I am a "Trades Quester" * . Only in this trade stuff to get the earring from Aid Grimel. I dont care what I make and most of it gets sold right back to merchants (How many shadowscream bracers can the market support anyway, plus it is crap stats wise). Some stuff cost so much I have to sell in the Bazaar (which I would rather not do) just so I dont spend all my money before I get to the end (solstice robes for example). Im gonna sell em just high enough to get my money back.
I would be just as happy to sell everything to a merchant that immediatly destroys em so I dont ruin the trader economy but Sony has seen fit make that not the case. Wish they had of used Jewelcraft the base model and had everything sell back at 5 to 10% under cost so I only have to pay for my fails and a slight mark up.. but no.
Ok back on topic: I an now past the smithing (and brewing) steps in this quest. I did the smithing portion of the quest with 222 skill. You dont need to be 250, oh sure most of the combines were not trivial but the risk is not worth getting the last 30 smithing points over.
I did fine plate to 188 then shadowscream the rest of the way. From 188 to 222 I sold over 400 shadowscream bracers to the merchant and as far as I was concerned this was the easiest way to go. The war in hollowshade made farming substances easy (I would pull to a waiting cleric and druid) I pulled 45+ mobs each spawn cycle. So they were not that tough. Swirling shadow is best farmed in Twilight, popular spot so you may need to wait your turn but it is worth the wait.
Brewing is now behind me and I did that at a skill of 221... Only tailoring has me worried..
