Yes, I've searched. I'm merely curious if skill-ups are noticeably faster once a skill of 220+ is acheived. I'm at 218 now, working on Shadowscream, which hasn't been too terrible, though I wouldn't mind it pickuping up some once I hit 220.

Only a little past it myself (skill lvl 225), but so far, with WIS of 255, I continue to get about one skill up every 20 combines. Sure, it gets streaky. None for 60 combines, then 4 in the next forty. In the end it just seems to be evening out to the expected one in twenty.

I've recently started making some Heraldic Armor for my Wifes Paladin, and I'm doing runs of Mistletoe Cutting Sickles and selling them. When they sell out, I do another run of 20. My success rate on the Heraldic is about 25%, and on the Sickles is about 40%. My last two skill ups have been on failures. My previous 22 had all been on successes, but as I was making Imbued Field Plate, and succeeding 19 times out of 20, the odds would support the skill up on the success.

Don't forget Tae Ew Shields, Legs and Tunics... 50% or so success rate at 220ish and may, depending on your server economy, make a profit.

        I definitely got faster skill-ups post 220.

Thank goodness, because I averaged over 40 combines from 188 to 250 -- and with a wisdom of up to 315, too.

My last five skill-ups (227-232) came from 51 combines, one in ten as opposed to the one in twenty I was used to.

Diffcult to draw any conclusions though, 51 is not a big sample and we are talking random numbers here

One thing you can do from 220-227 (raw skill) is clean the BP for the Aid Grimel quest. Recipe is:

Acid Wash = 3 Celestial Essence + Jar of Acid in Brew Barrel

Cleansed BP = Acid Wash + Dirty BP in PoK Forge

To get the BP say 'I am well versed in the art of smithing' to Aid Grimel in the tower in the library. Also, it is a good idea to bind at Grimel so you don't have to use the elevator to get up every time. Lastly, you may be able to do this from 210-227 with a geerlok, but I don't remember if he will give you the BP below 220 raw or not.

              210-227

I am at 208 right now (and been there for a while, darn Shadowscream!) I have already stacked in a supply of ethereal bricks and plan on doing 211 and 212 by turning these into sheets (hopefully guild can use them on the planar armor).

I will try talking to Aid Grimel at that point and if he will let me, then 212 to 227 should be cake (just lots and lots and LOTs of getting dizzy talking to Aid Grimel! ). Still and all, three Celestial Essence and a jar of acid (all stackable and can be pre-made!) and a touch of getting dizzy sounds a TON easier than more Shadowscream armor.

My understanding is that Grimel will not talk to you unless your raw skill is 220 or higher. Actually, he will insult your skill level, if what I've read is correct!

Aid grimel will not give the quest until 220, smithing mod items do not change that. I tried to get the quest at 210 215 and 219 with and without geerlock and he said "I wouldnt trust you to make a file much less trust you with sir bignob's armor"

As a cleric here is what I did from 220-227
I made 7 stacks of Acid washes
Cel essesnse X3 + jar of acid (brewing)

Then I bound myself at aid grimel and did a suicide drop down the elevator.
I targeted my corpse and rezed myself down the shaft and ran to the nearest forge, gated and repeated.

I managed to get 7 skill points before my rez timer ran out so 7 points in 2.5 hours not bad.

A druid or wizard could do this much easier by just loading the pok gate spell I belive the gate spot is really close to a forge.

Other classes would have to ride the elevator up and down dunno if the time is worth it.

riding the elevator down and up.. repeatedly to do this.. gives you about 20 combines per hour.

I have read about the alternate path from 220-227, looks like a cheap way to skill.

Just to clarity, from this post I gather it has to be a hard 220, not modified. OK np. I guess I can do that, 7pts is still 7pts, however, reading the quest guide on this is says there is a Flag requirement of Bertoxxulous AND rescuing Mylik and Adier. Is this still valid info?

Do I need to get flagged in order to take advantage of this skill path?

Well I just tired to get Aid Grimel to give me a BP for the smithing.. I to wanted to use the 7 easy skill ups.. However he told me "I am sorry but one who has such limited knowledge of the Planes would not be able to assist me." I have hunted planes but never have done any flags. Just hunted the ones open to me.

So I guess its back to farming for more shadowscream.

Great way to skill up though if you have your flag.

Hopefully you know a wizzard who can TL/port to bind, bind both of you up top, port to PoK, port to bind back, repeat forever. Assuming you can zone in under 20 seconds (I do it in 7, 12 at worst) you can do quite a few combines in an hour this way, Hope the wizzard has a big mana pool though...
