sorry if this seems stupid or has been asking im sorta new to smithing

in the recipe it calls for appropriate piece large patchwork/tattered armor, does this mean a pattern or the armor itself. meaning if i was gonna make boots i would need a tattered boot? ops: ops:

Yes you need an actual piece of large tattered/patchwork armor.

Luckily lots of newbies get these from a quest so the Tailor chick (cindl?)/guy in the tailoring shop near the forge sells them.
