  • Mistletoe Cutting Sickle at low skill

Would anyone have a ball park estimate ( or better tried it himself) for success rate on Mistletoe Cutting Sickle at say 189 skill +5%? I recall that
sewing solstice robes while at 160-170 skill was about 1 in 10, so I wonder if sickles would have similar trivial value as robes.

    Sickles

Even at 250 Skill with Geerlok many smiths are reporting 50-75 Success rate, if you have the cash or gem farming skills to put into this you could skill up this way.

This is a very small sampling, so it's in no way a certainty.

I did a single run of 20 sickles at skill lvl 193, just to see what it would get me. I did well on all the sub combines, with the expected 5% loss in there. When I did the actual sickle combines, I failed nineteen times, and had 1 skill up. Wisdom 255, and 5% geerlock hammer.

Unless you have a lot of plat to throw around, I don't recommend em at that level. My skill just last night hit 224, and I'm putting together the components to try again. I'm hoping for 40% - 60% success rate (tho I'm not holding my breath on the 60% )

The sickle is one of the 9 gifts that results in some nice earrings.

Solstice robes were more like the typical 5% success rate below 200 for me, and I have heard sickles are much the same. You may get lucky, but I figure 189 and geerlok will get you 1 in 20 on average.

If the sycles are triv >250 then at 190 you would be lucky to get one success.

But I wonder what the market is like for making the parts and selling them seperate for the 250 smithers to make?

I had an almost identical skill run. 20 attempts, one success, one skillup (not on the success, interestingly), and about 10K in costs. At the end, I had enough components left for another 7 attempts. 4K down the tube, no successes, no skillups. Skill was 194 + 5%, WIS was 255.

1 in 10 success on robes below 200 skill is an abberation. Or a small sample size and a lot of luck. Skilling from 155 to 191 averaged 1 in 20 successes.

                Soulfiend, market varies by server.
I know on Karana when Sumamael and some others were pushing for 250 and using sickles for skill, they were making deals with lower level smiths to make the parts for them at a reasonable profit per part.
I've also tried just selling a few parts I've found dumped on vendors and those didn't sell well. Guess it would depend on lucking into a smith who's skilling up on those and willing to outsource the combines on the subcomponents to save themselves time/wrist injuries.

                  Follow-up

I did my run of 20 sickles Friday Night. Skill lvl 224 with 5% geerlock and I got six successes. That's a 30% success rate. Didn't get any skill ups, with Wis of 255, but that happens often enough not to be remarkable on a run of 20. On the plus side, I'd sold all six of them by mid-day Sunday, so I'll put together the subcombines and do another run of them tonight.

Current market price on Tarew Marr has them around 2250p average. Cost of materials a bit over 7k for 20 attepts, I ended up with about 6k profit. That's not too bad, but with the amount of time invested in all of the subcombines, I'll look forward to the day my success rate is higher so I get a bit more return for my time.
