ogre to 97 in Ogguk

Reading the post here (I got through about 10 pages) I see most all are either very hight level or very low. I just wanted to tell my tale of getting to 97 and a new suit of banded armor.

I read the guides in EQTrader but I found that there are no vendors for most of the stuff reccomended for me to make. So this is how I did it. I sharpened rusty then made ore to 28. I then made sheet metal to 31 No one sells arrowhead molds in the Ferrott so I did throwing knives, to 53, and javelins to 60. I then did sheilds from buckler to targ until 79. I then switched to metal rings and chain joining to 95. That was as close as I could get with what I could find in Ogguk. Until then, I was getting a skill up about every other try, (probably more like every thrid try) and, thanks to the targ sheild 3p buy back price, I was about even in investment. Remember, I am a 65 intel and a nothing wisdom. I made my stack of sheet metal and purchased the molds and made all the pieces but 4 on the first pass. Ended up with a 97 skill and a suit of banded armor for my 13 ogre warrior. (untwinked)

I was thinking about going on to regular plate armor with the folded sheet metal but I cannot find out what the trivial for this is. Anybody know? Anyway, I now can make money by looting rusty weopens in the swamp, making ore and turn a 3s6c mold into 3p6g for a targ sheild, so I thought I could get the cash to make plate.

Arrowheads dont require a mold.

Gratz on making your own armour! It's a proud moment for any smith when they can don a suit of armour that they have made themself.

Your WIS and INT might have been low, but what was your STR? That is the 3rd stat used for smithing, and as an ogre (I'm guessing you're a warrior if your WIS and INT are low), then you probably have reasonable STR.

Nocturne, You're right about the arrowheads but I now remember that I considered the sell back price for throwing knives to be better than arrowheads so that's why I chose that route. The guides usually want the smith to make lanterns or spoons and the like and those molds are not sold in Ogguk.

Kradlum, I did not know about STR. As a Ogre warrior I got good stats there. I was wondering how it was possible I was getting points so easy. I thought there was some kind of EQ gift for an Ogre working in Ogguk.

Kradlum, You are right. I felt really good at making my own armor. I do not like all the typing I have to do to talk and trade to other players so I wanted to do it myself. Now I want to make plate but the only reciepies I see on the boards are for ornate stuff my 13 lvl can;t hope to get or buy.

What is the trivial for plain plate?

http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/smithing_armor.htm gives all the non-cultural armour recipes and stats. You're probably better off working through the chain armours, but you might get lucky with the plate if you just want to make some for yourself.
