  • Farming tips for Shadow Screem bits, substances?

any help appriciated. i am not paying 100pp per swirling shadows hehe. i also need to know where the best spot for howling/shreiking/wailing/whatever substances. i tried in hollowshade and slaughtered maybe 40 snoic wolves and got nary a substance. im new to anything beyond FP but acrylia is not a viable route as it is too expensive to buy bits and far too rare at that to bother with trying to farm. Shadow screem will be cheaper than banded if i can find the spot for farming.

    thanks in advance 8)

been said many times. (easily found with search feature here.)

Head to the islands in hollowshade for the best place. The 2 small ones are best for a Warrior since you cant AOE the crap outta 60 mobs like others do.

Search is your friend, but here's a quick lesson on shadowscream

get a tank, get a PBAE (wizard or druid is best).

get to the south islands in hollowshade moor, get the war to the point that the owlbeard or dogs are on the islands (depending on which one you want to farm). if possible have another 60+ that can roam the zone and keep the war stalemated at this point.

the tank goes out and makes one huge ass train with every mob on the islands and brings them back to the caster, 2-4 AE's later, they're all dead. Loot up, loot everything, sort later. by the time your done cleaning out all the mobs, the tank should be getting to his feet to do it again, as the mobs are now repopping. you can get about 10-20 (average 15) each round of the shrieks or howlings each time.

rinse repeat untill your sick of it, you can always come back. but make sure you have equal amounts of each (having 1 left in inventory really sucks).

now, get your butt over to Twilight Sea. this is the island directly infront of the little castle in the middle. kill every shadow you can, of course as fast as you can. loot them, they have up to 2 shadows, but it averages out to about 6 kills/shadow for me, sometimes less, sometimes more. i usually duo with my SK and can keep the island clear. have my dog on guard mode and if your near the middle, on the north edge, the dog will point when a new shadow spawns.

hope that helps you to get the biggest ROI on your time

Also note that the last time you checked on the war must have been a while. It's been working fine for a while now. Problem solved. It's the shadows that will drive you mad.

Farming for the ft1 earring and smithing supplies the last 3 days. This post was great!!
                http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=132&mid=1054448848821

The only difference for me - I make sure the owlbears have control of their home. Then run to the grimling camp and kill chieftain, then bodyguards and defenders. The brown mobs slowly wander over. I then race to wolves and kill the named, etc. About 3/4 of the time, the bears will take over the zone and I can run kill the fort mob. (2 earrings so far, whoot)

The other 1/4 of the time, no matter what I do, the wolves try to take over the owlbear's home. I have prevented this only by killing the little train of invaders. Then re-killing the named, etc. in wolf cave. It sometimes takes 4 or 5 de railing before the owlbears take over zone.

No clue on the shadows yet.
