  • Which Teir'dal pieces to do ?

Hi all you fellow insane smithers. I have gotten my smithing up to 212 so far, and this was done with Teir'dal (not the good version of Teir'dal) from 188 to around 195. Having had difficulty in obtaining a good supply of the enchanted large bricks of adamantite, I then decided to bite the bullet and go the Shadow Scream route (and go out of my mind) to my present skill level of 212.

Since having switched over to Shadow Scream for my smithing run, I now find myself with a couple of stacks of shadow tempers and essence of shadows. Rather than sell them, I thought that I might still use them for a few more skill up attempts. I am having trouble in determining which pieces and version of the Teir'dal armor to do if I would like to recoup some of my pp investment back from purchasing a boat load of essence of shadows. Could anyone please advise me as to what Teir'dal pieces I should consider doing even if it means additional investment in blue diamonds or anything else that is needed? Or, on the other hand, are all of the Teir' dal pieces vendor garbage that is not worth spending the time to work on if I might be able to make more pp back from selling my overflow of supplies?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure which you mean. The teir'dal plate? chain? Dark prince (you mention blue diamonds)?

If you mean the BD cultural at 212, you're probably wasting shadow tempers because the market is very low for Bd cultural, and your success rate will be low.

for the teir'dal plate stuff, boots are ok, as is bracer, BP is a definate maybe, cloak is nice, collar is a waste of time, as are gauntlets, girdle is probably a bad idea, greaves are decent, helm is ok, shoulders work, vambrances sell suprisingly well, visor is a waste.

teir'dal chain is a waste of tempers.

So are the Teir'dal plate (certain pieces) sell better than the blue diamond cultural? Are the blue diamond cultural pieces the same as the dark prince reagent pieces or are the blue diamond cultural and dark prince reagent lines different?

Tier'Dal Regent/Sovereign armor is non-imbued DE BD cultural. Dark Prince Regent/Sovereign armor is imbued DE BD cultural. Old cultural recipies are Tier'Dal Plate and Chainmail, respectively (and can be enchanted and imbued).

Old cultural recipies have a much larger market than BD armor and tend to sell faster (plus your skill really isn't high enough for BD if you're looking to make some money back). Cultural plate is decent mid-level armor and sells fairly well to plate classes. DE (and HE for that matter) cultural chain is unremarkable except that it can be worn by casters (and makes fairly decent pure caster armor). You might get away with making chain for 'hard to fill spots' - but that's not really a game issue any longer, so it would be best to wait for specific orders. (As an enchanter, I love wearing cultural armor because it allows me to use illusions without running around naked half the time ).

For the price, yes. Your server may vary, but BD cultural doesn't sell at all on Stormhammer.

It definitely might be worth selling off the tempers. The failure rate on cultural is very high and could lose you a lot of expensive blue diamonds if you do the BD armor, and the product is almost unsellable at this point for the most part. Since ornate started dropping like crazy, I haven't sold any cultural at all even though I've very drastically dropped my prices, and at this point it looks like the tempers will be of little use to me(I do ogre cultural). The tempers may be sellable if you get lucky now, but I don't anticipate they will sell at all before long.

But couldn't I just use the tempers to do Teir'Dal plate which, if I understand from above, there is still a market for some of the pieces?

Looks like you are on Tunare... if that is true then you may not be able to sell any of the smithy made items... Or at least expect to have them sitting on your trader in Bazaar for a good long time prior to them selling. Our server is crowded and has alot of items being handed around and down from one person to the next.

Not Trying to discourage you but I have been selling the cultual High Elven armor (old school not BD) and keeping an eye in the Blue Diamond stuff, the price has dropped through the floor for the end product and the parts needed for the combines have risen sharply (Morning Dew is my nemisis at 100pp PER in Bazaar). Making it almost impossible to make any PP off smithing.

A lot of the planar armor killed off the BD cultural stuff. Honestly, watch your market and keep track of who is selling stuff and how long they are taking to sell it. It truly is server dependent.

You may wish to sell off the temper -- the regular cultural is still done by some people for skillups.

If you were on Inny I'd buy them.
