  • smithing path...

I have looked through smithing recipe... In several guides they mention steel boning is the way to go. But i found Field points arrowhead to have easier component to get and a higher trivial. Unless im missing something, should i go on FPA instead of steel boning?

Edit: around 25-40 in skills that is.

You will probably find that pre-100 skill, you can make just about anything and get skillups, so naturally whatever you feel like doing is good. Cheapest if you're scrimping for cash always (like me) or more expensive easier to optain the materials route. Pre (insert Ornate chain trivial here), you can buy everything off vendors for your skill paths, so it isnt a big issue until that point. Be warned, there are cheaper methods post 122 than ornate chain. Just do what you think is best, no substitiue for practical experience.

I did not recommend field point arrowheads as a skilling path in my guide for a few reasons:

      1. It is cheaper to buy pre-made field point arrowheads from and NPC vendor than to make your own (this is actually true of most arrowheads that can be bought from NPC vendors).

      2. Steel boning sells back for a more attractive price to vendors -- at a smaller loss.

      3. If you don't want to sell back steel boning to vendors, you can use them for tailoring yourself or sell them to other players at a more attractive price, since steel boning is ONLY player made.

      4. There is no secondary (ie. player) market for field point arrowheads, as most people who fletch know to buy them from vendors and will not look for them in the bazaar.

If you find it works better for you, great. But at least in my guide, every decision had a considered reason, and since it is the "Economical Smith", the economical approach (lose the least amount of money for the most skillup punch) was my sorter.
