Been farming and skilling on SS recently, currently at skill 180.

    Here's the weird thing:
    At 255 INT:
    25 combines - one skillup.

Later, forgot I was in my predominantly resist gear, at 247 INT:
    30 combines - FIVE skillups.

Is it RNG slipping me a mickey, or there might be some kind of 'INT wraparound'?

    Any thoughts?

        *burns with envy*

        hehe

Enjoy it! but lament the fact you let the RNG know you are on to it! For I fear it may turn on you!, But take heart in the cold comfort that it turns on us all at one time :P

For the Random Number Generator is a cruel and capricious god, whose name we tradeskillers alternately curse and bless.

My run from 192 to 202 smithing, using shadowscream armor, 350 int :

Had 200 combines worth of material

              failed 11 humming orb
I hit 202 around 15 combines before the end

              Total: 174 combines for 10 skillups (average 19 combines/skillup counting last 15).

              Farming session :
              - 200 shrieking substances (~5 hours)
              - 200 wailing substances (~4 hours)
              - 400 swirling shadows (~14 hours)

So around one full /play day involved farming and around 1-2 hours worth of mindless clicking.

My experience is that much difference in INT will have very little impact on your skill ups. Someone with 255 should skill up noticeably faster than someone with say 175, but a difference of 8 in INT will not be nearly enough difference to counteract the randomness.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I carry a couple of steins when I buy and sell, and I forgot to change to my STR items when I started to smith. I got 2 skill ups at 247 STR before I realized what I had done.

i almost think it's worth it just to grind out to 65, and get my wis to that vaunted level with AA and items before i try hitting click again...

of course i'm obsessive and this week getting all tradeskills to 200, now that i'm a 203 smith.
