Success rate on old cultural

So today I made a suit of imbued field plate for my shadowknight character. My smithing is at 188, and I had a geerlok. Given that the trivials for these range from 22-45 points over my adjusted skill, I assumed I would have a lot of failures. I had gotten as many imbued black sapphires as I could afford, enough for 34 attempts.

Instead, I made the entire suit with only two failures! I even got a skill up! Did I just get crazylucky, or is this about par for the course?

You weren't lucky...

That should be about right. The only things at your skill level that are PITAs to combine up are Cutting Sickles and Blue Diamond/Velium cultural items. Even Shadowscream has a semi-nice success rating, for me at least at 188.

Does sound normal. At that skill you can make the old stuff really well. An with your geerlok you have that much more of a chance for success.
