  • hides for padding

I have been away for a while. I have a backpack full of threads, but I need some LQ hides. I just read a guide that recommended Stonebrunt Mts. for cat hides. The guide said that there was a new shortcut for getting there, but that is all they said. Can anyone please give me directions? Or, do you know a better place for hides? Thanks --- Fearchar

If there is a better place its maybe on Lucilin somewhere, Stonebrunt is still a wonderful place for Hides, and the place I use.

As for shortcuts, I could only imagine the author was talking about the new port to Stonebrunt, or using the book portal to appear in Tox Forest just near the entrance to Paineel...

That must be it. He did talk about a port. I thought he might have meant the books, but that does take you to Tox, which means a big trip though some zone I was never in. Who has the ports, Wiz or Dru ?

both wizards and druids get the stonebrunt port, which lands you near the southern coastal area (more or less, it's been a few months since I've actually played last, so my info might be off abit)

Marus Seru greyhoppers, always drop either an LQ rockhopper hide (which is usable with either a silk thread or a shade silk thread to make padding) or a greyhopper hide that you can sell to aspiring tailors (about 1/4 drop rate on the greyhopper though)

Personally, I would save Greyhopper hides if your tailoring is below 65, beacuse at 65, padding fails a LOT less than at 31. And easy way to get that skill up to 95 wihtout spending too much (pattern cost is all).

I ended up heading to Marus Seru. I figured it was a much easier trip. I can't imagine the drops being any better. In the fist hour I got a stack of LQ hides and 6 Greyhoppers. Later I came back and got 2 more stacks of LQ and 24 more Greys. I was figuring on skilling up my tailoring with the Greys, although I am only 31 now, and that is a big jump. But, like you said, the patterns are cheap. Right now I am getting 2 LQ for each Grey. I'll just have to see if this continues. Every once in a while I end up with an egg or blood instead of a hide, but that doesn't happen too often. Thanks again all.

This is working out better than I ever expected. Even with only 31 in tailoring, I took my 33 Greyhopper hides, and made gorgets. I had 7 successes, and 5 skillups. So now I am at 36, and I even made a little money in the process. I have a long way to go yet, but it looks like it will work. :>)

MS is by far the best for the LQ hides. You can farm massive quantities in no time at all, in fact you can often have the 20-30 level characters in zone collect them for you in return for buffs. The greyhopper hides drop at about a rate of 1:2.5 of the LQ hopper hides.

Yes, that is definitely a great place to farm. The Greyhopper hides got my tailoring up to 95. I don't need the leather for myself any more, but I am hunting lesser shades for the Swiriling Shadows. I end up with about 4 stacks of shadling silks for every stack of shadows, so I run over to MS for an hour or so, get a couple stacks of LQ hides and sell the leather in the Bazaar. I make easier money this way than I ever did hunting Hill Giants, and I don't have to fight the crowds. :>)

OOPS, I shouldn't have said that, until after I hit 250 -- ha ha

So far I have had one skill up in 33 combines of Shadowscream :>(
