  • Velium brick break down failure rates

OK, got a 184 skill troll SK with a smithing geerlok and a tendancy to bust down big, non-stacking velium into smaller, stackable, fast selling peices of velium.

There's only one minor problem - I've got a pitiful failure rate.

Just about every time I break out the old chisel, I get a failure when converting stuff down. This has been over the course of several weeks in CC, Thurg, Bazaar, SH and PoK, so I know it's not a jinxed zone or forge.

My current failure rate is staying constant right now at about 10%, that's down from 15% when I had a 120ish smithing skill.

Most of the failures are on the small bricks - which is a good 80% or more of the stuff that I'm converting. I do count each step of breaking down stuff larger then small brick too.

Has anyone else had these kinds of problems?

I don't have much experience breaking down velium. Can't help ya there, sorry.

I do have alot of experience breaking down acrylia however. The failure rate seems to be about 10%. Considering that I have a smithing skill of 176 (just how good of a smith dose a tailor have to be?) you'd think I'd get the normal 5% too. Just gotta grin and bear it.
Also, seem to get the most failures from small bricks (very rare to fail cutting down blocks and large bricks), though I don't do nearly as many of these as small so it could be just my perception is prejudice.

All in all, I'd rather fail 10-15% on velium than acrylia.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

I've got terrible rates at breaking down velium and turning it into rings....for something that trivials at 88 or less, its sure annoying.

        No.

I generally convert close to a full mule (80-150 blocks, etc.), and am shocked when I see a failure on breakdowns. Ring/stud/folded sheet conversions are generally fairly successful as well.

Yes, I suffer from brick breakdown failure all too commonly as well. I attribute that to the RNG. I have bad Kharma because I make fun of rangers. Rangers class is also abbreviated RNG. Therefore, the RNG hates me. Sound logical. I would say that you should start warming up to rangers and perhaps your luck will change. Kiztent, I know for a fact, is all buddy-buddy with rangers. That is why he does not have the same Kharma problem. :P

            re

Have you hugged a ranger today?

I offer my ranger self up for hugging if anyone needs help with their RNG karma. It works...really it does.

But in all seriousness, I used to have horrible failure rates on acrylia as well. My failures on conversions of velium have been pretty reasonable. I haven't kept records but you get a feel for failure rate after a long time and I think I am aroud the 5%.

            Hope that helps.

I had noticed the same thing.

BTW, does anyone know if the conversion for breaking down ore will ever be changed?

What I mean is it takes 27 pieces to make a block, but when the block is broken down you get just 2 pieces back. I could understand some loss but that is a bit silly.

Hmm, but I never make fun of rangers - just tell various true stories and ancidotes about them.

Q - Why did the chicken cross the road?
A - It was chasing the ranger.

Q - Why did the warrior cross the road?
A - He was trying to taunt the chicken off the ranger.

Q - Why didn't the SK cross the road?
A - Because he successfully got aggro off the ranger with one spell.

Q - Why did the chicken cross the road again?
A - Because it aggroed the cleric after the cleric tried to Cheal the mana sponge, er, ranger.

                etc

I offer my ranger self up for hugging if anyone needs help with their RNG karma. It works...really it does.
I used to hug the rangers in QH and SFG, unfortunately, if you hug them too hard (as us trolls are prone to do - wood elves is fragile) then they tend to break and eventually won't let you hug them anymore.
