  • High End Cultural Info Needed

Can I get some feedback on success rate with the high-end cultural smithing? (The BD Stuff). My Human Smith is at 204 (215 with geerlok) and I would like to try a run at the Luminant Heraldic Armor, but not if I am going to fail every time.

I am getting pretty burnt at farming and skilling up and I was hoping that if I could get 1 or 2 pieces out of a run of 20, that I would feel at least the work so far has been worthwhile.

Any estimates on what the trivials for the BD stuff us or success ratio I could hope for would be very appreciated.

There are quite a few posts on this.
At max modified skill of 252 (240+geerlok, etc) you have a roughy 42% chance of success.
Subtract 1% per skill point under 252. But dont go below 5% as there is always a chance you will succeed (or fail) no matter what your skill!

252-215 = 37. So you'd have about the minimum 5% chance of success.

Give it a go if you want, but I'd seriously consider skilling up A LOT more.

Well heres my theory on that - is that if you assume that the trivial progression for the high end cultural is the same as every other type of Player Made armor - then the 1 sheet/ring items have a lower triv than the 3 sheet items - and the BP is the most difficult.

So with that assumption in mind - is your 42% successes rate for the BP or for the Visor? By my calculations if 42% is for BP - then it would have a trivial of 340. Now that would make the 1 sheet items (visor, bracer, collar) have a trivail of 315...which means...

that at 215 ,I would have a 31% chance at success with 1 sheet items....

I can actually live with that...

I was curious if other could cofirm or cooraberate that 1 sheet/ring items do have higher success rates.

I've been doing 1 ring items since 206....at about 217+geerlok, I've been going about 50% on them....except for tonight, **** you RNG!

I would try to get a few more points before attempting, but you never know, you might get lucky. I got 1 bracer in 15 attempts from 201-205 skill + 5%. I tried again at 220 and found from then on the failure rate was acceptable.

If you really want to try at 204, I'd try bracers, and then sell them to either fund further attempts, or to temporarily upgrade your gear to help farming until you can get a better success rate.

The first bracer I made paid for upgrades to much of my equipment which made farming in Hollowshade a lot easier, the 2nd bracer paid for the components to start making cultural full time.

Interesting theory about BD armor pieces having differing Trivials

From personal experience making dozens of pieces of Barbarian Plate and Chain, I can't really say I've noticed any difference.

Some days I can fail 3 times or more on a bracer yet make legs followed by a BP!

On HIE armor, I am becoming a believer that the chain has lower trivials than the plate. My success on chain has been much higher over time.

3 for 22 on Teir`Dal Regent Plate Bracers at 193 skill.
The 1 sheet items are definately not as far above 250 than the other pieces (either that or I got insanely lucky).

It makes sence for them to be, so they are in line woth the progresion of all the other smithed armours.

I've been making Heraldic armor since the recipes were discovered(started at skill 212, am now 225). I can safely say that the pieces DO have different trivials, ranging from 1-ring being the easiest to 3-ring being the hardest. From my experience, greaves have the highest trivial, followed by breastplates. I can almost consistently go 40-50% on 1 ring items, except for bracers, which seem to have the trivial of a 3 ring piece. Take this as you may because I stopped actually logging my success rate long ago.

I recently made my first run at BD cultural pieces with my human smith bot. He is currently 216 skill + geerlock. 22 combines (18 attempts at bracers and 4 for girdles) netted me 1 bracer for the time. Granted this is probably a combination of low skill and bad RNG luck but I personally won't be doing anymore BD combines till I have a raw skill of 230+

1 for 15 on dwarven BD cultural with 213 + 5% here, I'd wait and skill up a bit more before blowing your diamonds.

Well the bad run on the bracers is consistant with the other posters report that Bracers have a higher triv than normal (like a 3 sheet). Also, what pieces trying is also as important as your skill level.
