Changes in FS Wep to HQ Ore conversion

Kk, this may be old new, but you all have given me so much info, I thought I would make mention of this. I have just finished up the ornate chain phase (thank the Nameless One). But, I noticed that when I converted the last couple runs worth of fine steel, I got back a lot more ore. I don't remember the exact amounts, but i think the 2 hand sword gave back like 3 bricks of ore!!! This means a smith can make an entire piece of armor (2 rings) from one FS Wep!!! If this is old news, then please don't even waste precious space with this, but if not, then send me a tell, and I will be happy to farm one of each type of fine steel wep, and write down the effects of the ore conversions.

My only hope is that I am able to help out in some way.

This happened from a patch about three weeks ago

- they finally got around to fixing the cursor stacking bug.

There may well be a definitive list of what produces what somewhere by now, but most conversions seem to produce 2 small bricks of HQ ore

You still need 3 to make a large brick and then file that down to rings, but with FS weapons going for 4 or 5pp on VS, you can now knock out 4 rings for around 15pp. I don't expect those prices to hold that low for long though

Unfortunately, folks have been VERY vague on providing me with specific details of X converted down = Y, etc.

It's all been "I think these gave me back more, but don't remember which was what."

If someone can provide me with hard details for the site, I'd love to get them in place.

You might have missed it Denmom but Zeralenn did a pretty good job. It might be listed backwards from idea for you but I'll quote it:

I've been breaking down FS in preparation for revising this section in the Edition 5 of the smithing guide. So far I have the following conversions:

1 small brick: dagger, jutte, tanto, tonfa, yari

1 small brick + 1 small piece: naginata, spear

1 small brick + 2 small pieces: kusarigama, short sword, warhammer, wakizashi

2 small bricks: great staff, katana, morning star, rapier, scimitar, tachi

2 small bricks + 2 small pieces: 2-handed sword
