Velium Smithing

Question about Velium smithing...

Velium weapons are easy enough to figure out...but what about the stats? I didn't see them listed on the stats page at all.

Furthermore, I recall hearing that someone discovered velium armor, besides the 8th shawl armors. This was a long time ago and I could be mistaken, but wasn't there some form of "Velium Banded" type armor?

they're sort of intertwined with the regular forged weapons (for comparison, I supposed). I'm mostly done the throwing weapons myself, and every one I've wanted to find has been there, after a bit of searching.

As for the armor ... when Velious was rather new, and people were trying to figure out what to do with the blocks and such ... they found the recipe for folded sheets, and sheets of velium.

I remember hearing something about people "finding" velium armor ... I don't know how (especially since there were no item links ... but I'm not really up on EQ hacking technology :P ), and I don't remember the quality (plate, banded, etc), but the conclusion I remember was that all the recipes and items had been put in, but the recipe itself had been removed "at the last minute" for one reason or another to keep people from making them.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no smithed velium armor beyond the 8th shawl stuff.

your probably thinking of frosted royal velium armor (i think thats what its called) no drop and drops off the dains guards in icewell

Never seen a forged velium weapon shrug. Never really noticed those recipes (mostly cause they seem kinda worthless for even twinking)

Yes, one can smith up Velium Weapons. And it has been possible for quite a long time. I know I created the first ones through a sheer fluke.

They are expensive to create, since they require a Velium Temper.

Their stats are not "fantastic"... more like a bit better than some plain smithed weapons. And for the cost of the temper, not worth it at all. Not even for twinks.

If the temper cost about 5 plat per, rather than 25... I would make the throwing spears for my Monk just to have the Range. But I am not gonna make throw-away weapons at that price.

They are an interesting "feature"... Useful? Sorta? Cost Effective - Heck no.

I remember hearing something from a fan fair at one time that there was plans for a Velium Chain armor to be put in, but these plans were scrapped because they thought that the armor would not be usefull or some such... This explains why you were able to make the Velium rings even prior to there being Blue Diamond Cultural or the Royal velium that use them... I could be wrong though... come on any othe old timer out there help me out if this sounds familiar to you.
