  • Tarnished to Ore

    I'm not a great super smith, but I noticed that the ore conversions for tarnished weapons wasn't list. Well, I've been using those conversions to skill up. Relatively cheap and I can get at least 1 extra combine off each success (except for shortened spears, see below).
    Basic recipe: Tarnished weapon + water in a forge = ore
    :arrow: Shortened Spear = 1 small piece
    :arrow: Spear, Axe, Rapier = 2 small pieces
    :arrow: Battle Axe, Long/Broad Sword, Mace, Scimitar = small brick (triv <= 23)
    :arrow: 2-Handed Sword = Large brick
    :? I haven't been able to record Short Sword or Bastard Sword. They all trivial before 23 except 2-Hand. I'll post as I nail it down a bit more. :roll:
    :?: My only question is can ore be converted into different sizes? IE, small pieces to small bricks or large bricks to small pieces?

    There have been reports that the amount of pieces/bricks/blocks returned for the conversion of Tarnished Weapons to ore has been changed recently. I haven't tried any myself but I don't doubt it.

    As for the conversion of pieces to bricks, and bricks to blocks, there are standard recipes to do it. Put a Water Flask, 3 pieces (or bricks) into a forge and combine. And you will get the larger item back

    3 Pieces -> Small Brick
    3 Small Bricks -> Large Brick
    3 Large Bricks -> Block

    To break them up, take a larger piece with a Smithing Chisel (no water) in a forge.

      Thanks.

      The short sword gives 2 small pieces of ore. Still working on the Bastard.

        Last recipe on the bottom of http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/smithing_conversions.htm

        Please poke me if something there is out of kilter. Running through the boards at mach 20, so easy for me to miss something right now.
