Hey, I'm OMW to trying to be a GM smith, but like I have a few questions about some farming. Main thing slowing me down at this point is farming lava rocks and Mercury for Earthen tempers. I've been making frequent trips to Najena/LS, but that's painfully slow going. Do most of you go to the Hole for this stuff? Is the drop rate a lot higher there? And as a cleric, do I need to keep PLing my melee until I can farm stuff there? Any info will help, tks!

If you can hunt there, Lava Rocks and Drops of Mercury are easier to get in Twilight Sea off the elementals on the island. Both drop there, semi-rare, but at least in the same place.
You can also get a rogue friend to make you Drops of Mercury if you find yourself with more Lava Rocks than Mercury.
Good Luck in your quest.

From AE farming the elemental island in Twilight Sea, I can say that lava rocks are a bit more rare than drops of mercury (their close though). I use upheavel and thorns to mow the mobs down (I think thorns dose most of the work, with the occasional quick heal. realy hard to get upheavel off with the mobs meleeing and nuking and proc'ing. I'd suggest a DS potion for your cleric).
Oh, and hunting The Hole is a pain without a full group, unless you stick to the entrance. Then a duo is good enough. G'luck.Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*

What about a low level character? Clico is 11 and wasn't even originally going to get THAT far (she eventually needs to farm her own pelts though). Najena/Lavastorm her best bet now? Thank heavens for books. ^_^Mistress Tinkbang Tankboom - Ak'Anon, Tarew Marr

At level 11 ummm I can't think of anything that you could hunt for Lava Rocks/Mercury. Except perhaps the Elementals in Steamfont, and I don't know if they do drop the above. As I have never hunted them.
Personally, I just picked them up from Vendors, Bazaar (when cheap) and general hunting, like Twilight Sea or the Hole...

Lava rocks I buy in the bazaar when the price isn't too ridiculous.
Drops of Mercury I generally get from the merchants at the windmills in Steamfont. They do drop from the elementals there and there's normally someone who just sells them on to the merchants.Grolber - Cavalier of Brell on Venril Sathir
