  • Quickest way to raise smithing for those with money?

I'm not sure if amount of successes increases the chance of raising skill, I'm not interested it it really. I just want to get smithing up to shawl level with a quickness, hopefully all store bought, like the ribbons in gunthak was a quick way. I'm on test server so I can't really go to the bazaar and buy anything I want, as it's empty.

    Thanks

    LoY Needles to 132
    Ornate Chain to 162
    Fine Plate to 188

The ornate chain will put a dent in your bank account, but you wont need leather padding for it. 188 should be enough for the shawls.

Yep 180-ish + geerlok is fine for shawl combines.

And even if you did fail one piece of armor its no big deal (unlike the previous shawls where failure = BAD).

Hell you don't even need tailoring that high as you can just attempt for soft fur padding.
(Though of course high tailoring helps with shawl 6! But most folks just brute-force it with 158-ish skill).

If you want to do it all store bought just do ornate chain to 162 then grit your teeth for the shawl combines. Plate requires padding.

Thanks a ton guys, I just spent 4 hours in tactics adjutant's sabre, and battledrummer maingauche, so while I was actually poor when I wrote this, I'll have money now. Muchos gracias mis amigos y amigas

Thats the route I took for my shaman. Needles, Ornate, Fine Steel (and i too am on Test Server)

I made 8/8 peices of the armor, no failures, at 180 smithing+geerlok.

(failed once at faceting a gem and failed once on the imbue, both JC combines)

Now i just need that stupid Runed Sea Shell (EB) for the 7th shawl. =)

If you decide to continue your smithing progress and you're really rich, check out this guide:

              http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=517

It's a high-level perspective on hitting 250 smithing as quickly as possible, with a minimum of farming or relying on the bazaar.

(The version on the Web site is slightly out of date, as the author updated the version on the message boards to reflect the changes to shadowscream armor.)

Theres no reason to go to 188, I'm 16 for 17 at 175 smithing (got mine up on banded mail pre-nerf). Honestly, considering how hard it is to get the ingredients for the velium armor (not too hard at all) I'd try brute forcing it at 160+gearlock.
Tailoring, why did I ever start tailoring? *sob*
